Tipico O Fado - Porto

Have you heard Fado? if you haven't yet...please do. This restaurant not only offers great food, but offers amazing fado singers. Now before I begin, make sure you make a reservation ahead of time, this place is not that big and it will get packed...even on Monday, so plan ahead. We arrived at 9pm and our dinner lasted until half past 11. The way dinner goes is you can order half hour before the first singer arrives, food will arrive prior to each singer , that way you can focus on hearing them sing and not so much on eating. There are a total of 4 singers , each sings about 3-4 songs. The restaurant has old portuguese charm, it's cozy and quaint and the staff is very nice and accommodating. During this visit, we tried their soup of the day, a creamy potato soup which was very tasty. We ordered the grilled fish accompanied by asparagus and potatoes and the clams. All dishes were well executed and the portions were enough to share. The show is worth the visit and it will give you a taste of what the typical portuguese music is all about.

We had the most wonderful evening at Restaurant Tipico O Fado. The food was amazing and the service outstanding. It was a memorable evening. We really enjoyed the Fado too.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was excellent as was the service. Our server went above and beyond to make sure my mom and aunt were taken care of. It was my mother’s 60th birthday and they brought out a dessert for her and the musicians and performers sang to her in Portuguese which she really enjoyed. The good portions were large which was a good value for the price. I would definitely recommend you visit this restaurant to listen to typical fado music and eat excellent food!
