Cedar Rooms Restaruant - Portlaoise

The food was decent with no major issues. The restaurant was peaceful since we went early. The service was quick and we had no complaints. However, we were able to see into the kitchen from our table and we were not pleased to witness someone cleaning the undersides of surfaces with a long-handled tool while cooking was still happening in the same area.

For quick or good Irish food meals this restaurant is superb. It offers a good range of food at reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and the service good. I recommend it.

We both ordered stake. The bar was very busy. When the food arrived it was missing the peppercorn sauce and the garlic butter. When asked for it we got only peppercorn sauce..we didn't bother to call the waiter again. My chips arrived like half bowl my boyfriend had a bit more but everyone else was served a full bowl not to mention that there was no crispy onions to be seen on our plates. The plate was cold so the food got cold quick. I had twice stake in this place before and everything was perfect. We finished our meal but all waiters had disappeared. We waited for a while..even when someone appeared they just kept their heads down so nobody wouldn't disturb them. I can understand it was Saturday night after 9 but it is not acceptable. I dont think it was the staff to blame..looked more like the place was understaffed.

Having stopped here for both lunch and dinner on two separate occasions, I found the restaurant had a nice, laid-back atmosphere that makes it suitable for casual lunching, and a certain warmth to it that makes it equally pleasant for evening dining. The food is tremendous and excellent value. Located on the ground floor, the restaurant is easily accessible. The service was quite quick, considering the quality of the food and the number of diners present. Staff were polite and friendly, not only to diners but also to each other, which I always consider an important aspect of the atmosphere.

Lovely meal excellent staff seating arrangements feel a bit corridor awkward layout but despite young staff they are very helpful and pleasant
