Bidrage med feedbackA classic Worthing pub which has recently been reopened under new management. The pub feels much fresher whilst they have managed to retain their emphasis on a large variety of modern craft beers, real ales and ciders. Their beer list changes constantly, and there is something new to try every time I've been there.
This pub is very welcoming and follows Covid rules strictly. They offer a wide selection of real ales and provide friendly and helpful service.
As average on the inside as its external appearance is. No TV so no sport. Lots of staring if youre not a local.
I was fortunate enough to spend several days on the South Downs with my girlfriend, getting away from the hustle and bustle of London, and in my research for places to visit I came across an online recommendation for the Selden Arms, in Worthing. I was trying to source a couple of favourite, hard to find beers, and the Selden sold them. So a visit was very much in order. I had reserved a table several days in advance, and arrived feeling like an excitable child on Christmas morning. From the outside the pup is discreet. Almost underwhelming. Upon entry though the staff instantly and correctly assumed we were the London visitors, and showed us to our table. The taps/pumps had an eclectic mix and I sampled several. I approached the bar to inquire about their cans/takeaway options, and made mention of some I desired the White Mocha Stout by Susses Small Batch, in particular and placed a rather substantial order with them. As we were buying so many the staff generously offered us a discount (taking £1 off each item). After paying and finishing our drinks our alloted time at the Selden was up and we said our goodbyes and slowly walked out with a box full of beers. I naturally, liked the Selden much more than my girlfriend, but she enjoyed visiting too, and was happy to attend for me. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Selden Arms if you're a real ale connoisseur or just want to sit down in an old fashioned, quiet pub, with an older clientele.
The Selden Arms is a cozy neighborhood pub that caters to fans of traditional ale, rather than those who prefer foreign lagers. The small bar offers a great selection of beers, with a friendly and knowledgeable bartender who can guide you through the different options. While the decor may be a bit worn, it's still a great spot to relax, enjoy a drink, and have a meaningful chat with friends.
