We went out to dinner tonight, Kathy was charming and attentive, the food was great. Drinks came to the table quickly and we didn't have to wait around. The waitress was lovely and attentive.

It would have been nice if the children's menus were already on the table as we had previously mentioned having two children during the booking. Our waitress had to go ask what the soup of the day was, which was a bit annoying. It would have been more professional if she had greeted us with the soup of the day and children's menus without us having to ask. While waiting for the soup information, I enjoyed the lovely seafront location with a clear view of passing boats. The restaurant was nicely decorated, and the outdoor seating on the seafront seemed like it would be pleasant on a summer day. However, the smell of smoke coming in whenever someone entered or exited was off-putting. When we ordered, they asked if we wanted the children's meals to come out with our starters, which was convenient. However, I was not happy when the waitress placed my 2-year-old's hot plate directly in front of him, despite warning us it was very hot. This was unprofessional and unsafe. The soup I ordered was more like tomato puree and very salty. It was served in a rustic pot with bread, but the soup was disappointing. My husband enjoyed his whitebait, and the children's meals seemed cheap and not very appetizing. My Belly of Pork was fatty, and the skin was solid instead of crispy. The garlic mash was average, and the vegetables seemed frozen. My husband enjoyed his Classic Combo, especially the tandoori chicken, but agreed that my meal and the children's dishes were substandard. The drinks were okay, but my husband's Bitter shandy was flat. The bill for the family of four with two courses each came to £76, which would have been reasonable if the food had been better. Overall, I was disappointed with the experience and would not return. The staff need better training, especially when it comes to serving hot food to children. I will not recommend this restaurant to my friend who was considering it for her wedding venue.
