We were included in the restaurant and really wanted with a selection of seafood to start, and then a main course of Sea Bass that was incredible. Good wine to accompany the meal, and appropriate for the extremely high quality. Very recommended.
Since this restaurant is one of our favourite safe havens in Matosinhos, we come here quite often at weekends and most of the times order the superb grilled fish (sea bass or turbot). This time round we chose the fried shad with hake eggs açorda as a sider. Seasoned with thick grainy salt and very well fried, it is a rare and delicious dish to savour, along with a fresh Douro white wine. Absolutely fantastic! For dessert I never resist the miniature pastries (specially the chocolate eclairs). Always a pleasure and delight to have lunch or dinner at O Fernando Restaurant! Highly recommend it!
My sister and I came to lunch. While I went to the ladies' room, my sister mistakenly thought that 1pax meant that every sardine was €12 and told the waiter it was too expensive. She came to the bathroom and said we had to go because it was too expensive and I said I would watch the menu. When I explained that 1pax means 1 serving/person, we decided to stay. We were the only non-places. The waiter with whom my sister spoke was very rude to her and we had another waiter who was very friendly, attentive and had a nice sense of humor. We enjoyed the sardines accompanied with grilled paprika, salad and cooked potatoes. The price was very reasonable and the food was absolutely delicious.
We came to O Fernando right after the beach and went here because a friend recommended it as the best seafood. Sergio gave us great recruits for the mussels, the fish fried appetizer and the sea bass. We loved everything. Obrigado!
The staff was so friendly and made us and our daughter very welcome. We appreciate orientation on the menu and care for the preferences of our little ones. The place was full of locals, so if you have a way to fall a few hours before and make a reservation, consider this. I am happy to go back there
