Been going here for years and years now. It is hard to find decent Afghani food this out East on Long Island but choopan has always been solid. One complaint is that the white sauce was very very vinegar heavy last time which is to me, what really enhances the meal. I got the chicken breast kebab and It is a solid portion with rice especially for the cost. Bang for your buck.

This gem has been around for a very long time. The food is flavorful. The ambience is ethnic relaxing. We have ordered everything on the menu at least once so far have not been disappointed with anything.

I have been visiting this restaurant a few times a year since they opened, and I have never once been disappointed. The food is always well prepared and fresh, nicely seasoned, and served in generous portions. The quality is exceptional, everything is delicious. It is a very modest restaurant though, do not expect anything very fancy, there probably won't even be any music playing. There may be a family or two gathered for dinner with various relatives and children, especially if it is a Muslim holiday. This is all the atmosphere you need. The wait staff is minimal, but very friendly and welcoming, they are absolutely on top of their game and make you feel at home. This is one of my most favorite restaurants on LI, and I always look forward to opportunities to visit.
