Grand Tappattoo Resort - Seguin

We had dinner last night in the dining room. My husband's meal was exceptionally poor! His schnitzel was so overcooked you couldn't even tell there was meat in it and the sauce was thick and not overly warm. He refused to complain. As a former restaurant owner, that meal would NEVER have left my kitchen. My pickerel while a very small piece, was done well, and my potatoes were tiny bullets. We were so very disappointed as we were looking forward to this dinner out. Our server was very pleasant.

Had very very disappointing breakfast this morning. First impression of filthy sticky floors only continued to dirty dishes on the buffet. Had to pick through to find clean plates. Food was cold eggs, hash browns and bacon bacon greasy. Waiter was pleasant. My husband ate his food, I left mine on my plate. Were asked to pay as we left though we were there as guests of friends. Did not want to embarrass our friends by complaining nor did we want them to pay for this meal. Disgraceful food and attitude of hotel employee. Another family in the parking lot said they completely agreed with us. Too bad wished it had been a better experience.

Stunning location by the water in a beautiful building. Must have reservation, but no one checks. No hostess to greet you and left standing for 10 to 15 minutes while staff ignores you. Breakfast buffet is terrible (slab of not scrambled eggs, over cooked sausages, pancakes and cereal. Coffee was excellent. Dinner: Seafood pasta was heavy with cream sauce and soggy cappelini noodles. Light on seafood some small scalops and a few prawns. Salmon was outstanding.

We were extremely impressed with the restaurant. The view of the lake was stunning, the food was delicious and expertly prepared (we had pickerel and salmon), the service was fantastic, and the decor was lovely. What more could you ask for? We even enjoyed Spanish coffee on the deck outside until we were bombarded by black flies. It was the perfect Northern Ontario summer evening.

I have a few more words concerning this great place. We were so impressed with our three night stay that we booked another night. Worth every loonie!
