Bidrage med feedbackWhat a terrific restaurant and welcoming staff. I have walked by A La Turca so many times, but until recently, haven't tried it. Should have come sooner, but I'll be back again soon. Great food. We started with a cheese and spinach borek, a pastry that was light and flaky--it felt like it was composed of 50 layers of philo dough, delicious. For mains we had doner plate, which was an ample and filling serving of shredded beef and lamb with rice, salad, and tzadiki dipping source. Amazing and less than $20. The other dish was quite unique, consisting of grilled lamb inside lavash bread, covered with a rich and buttery tomato sauce and yogurt. One of the best meat dishes I've had in years! Just off Polk and Geary. Go before you hit one of the many bars in the neighborhood. You won't regret it. Wonderful.
I have been coming to A La Turca regularly for two decades and I 've only had a good meals. It 's a family owned place. Keep in mind sometimes the service experience is inconsistent, and ithe location can be inconsistent too with parking and general safety. I love the pides because they make their own dough. During my last visit, my dining partner got the golzeme with cheese (a thinner dough) and it appeared to be a pre-made tortilla , however they said it was still delicious like a Turkish quesadilla . The restaurant has reasonable prices, it 's a cute date choice, and the food is consistently wonderful!
This restaurant serves the best Turkish cuisine in the city, without a doubt. The menu is excellent, offering quality dishes with generous portions. They also have a selection of good Turkish wines and the service is top-notch. I have been a loyal customer since they first opened, and I believe the quality has only improved over time.
My friends and I decided to have dinner here on Friday night before heading to our concert at the Great American Music Hall. The restaurant was within walking distance, which was very convenient for us. We were promptly greeted and seated as soon as we arrived. We decided to try the beyti kebap and some traditional Turkish soda. The soda had a familiar taste, similar to a mixed berry flavor. I would highly recommend trying the beyti kebap, it was delicious. I look forward to coming back and trying more dishes at this restaurant.
Alright, this review is coming to you and, for you, from a Turkish man who knows how to cook 7 Michelin Star restaurant WHATEVER food and would never ever miss a chance to add another extra 3 stars to its nutritious tastefulness by reassuring the very artistic as well as visually fulfilling presentation of it; just for the heck of rounding its score to 10! Therefore, if or when I talk to you about FOOD, I talk about it knowing quite something about it. So you can expect to get something BENEFICIALLY GOOD out of my talking about SOUL FOOD; I 've personally had or tried in audible (i.e., Good Conversation, or, MUSIC) or edible form. That said, the infamous Turkish flat bread which I could describe to you as the literal best pizza in the whole entire world; yet despite its being a few centuries older predecessor of pizza 's It 's crispy, super thin and still rollable as one piece with a palmful of greens and or chopped white onions added to that and ALL THAT its very presence today is the very proof to it being something that people collectively wanted to see survive literally over the many centuries, to this day which eventually makes the Turkish flat bread a literal LEGACY food. The kind of alchemical food proposed to Anatolians by the Culinary Arts Masters of the 'then ' Ottoman Empire, in a way more primitive yet significantly sincerer WORLD that for sure offered apples but no Apple Pay, REALLY, back then. I AM TALKING About Lahmacun, Y 'ALL! (Pronounced LAH|Ma JooN) Lahmacun to a Turkish Boy is very typically, what to an American Boy, Mac and Cheese most precisely is! I mean if I had all the money to dine outside of home like literally every single day of my life, I would go there literally, at least for one meal, yes every single day. Because they can and do actually make it! PRO TIP: Yet Mac and Cheese would never dare to compete with the nutrition value of a well prepared Lahmacun, to ever possibly be able to beat it, no matter what you would really do to customize, modify, or upgrade it! ALTHOUGH I 'M QUITE SELFISHLY NOT SATISFIED BY THE LAHMACUN PLATE, IN terms of THE AMOUNT OF GREENS AND Lahmacun ITSELF INCLUDED YET I WON 'T CHOOSE TO UNDERRATE, TO HAVE ALL THAT CONCLUDED AS IT IS WORTHY OF A PRAISE WHAT IN THAT OVEN THEY HAPPENED TO CREATE! LAH Ma JooN y 'ALL x 2 Yeah, yeah, yeah! So Eat them all, figure how to gain NO weight! Was the name of the GAMEBOY game? Hey, but, wait!! x 2 Their kebab platters are also worth giving a shot each, and if you 're on a lucky day which they had not run out of their super delicious rice pudding, known as Sütlaç, you might also give that a try. The staff members Mine Selami who are in managerial ownership roles both are both too cute to be true, in the conversational hospitality they so naturally facilitate, as it is in their Turkish blood, which only makes me feel proud of their well representation of the delicious Turkish to San Franciscans; an experience which was never overshadowed by the lack of kindness in SERVICE or warmth in TONE which you would naturally anticipate from a Turkish small business owner! To know so well, you gotta BE FAMILIAR! So what are you waiting for? Go get yourself familiar with some good Turkish food people! ^ ^
