Bidrage med feedbackThe food at this restaurant is excellent, but it is on the expensive side. The modern interpretations of classic dishes, such as the Paté chinois, are creative, but the portion sizes are small. The burger, which is listed as a main course, could easily pass as an appetizer due to its size. The atmosphere is pleasant, but it can get noisy at times. The lighting could use some improvement, as the large spotlights on the ceiling can be harsh. Overall, the restaurant is quite nice, but keep in mind that it is pricey.
At first glance, you are greeted by a large bar table, which is a nice touch. The prices here are a bit high for what you get. Despite the good reviews, the experience was underwhelming. The waiter was friendly and explained where their products came from, all of which are locally sourced - a wonderful initiative. We ordered a variety of drinks, including Caesars, beers, and cocktails, all of which were served promptly and were tasty. The complimentary Cajun-style popcorn in mini Mason jars was a unique touch. For appetizers, we had fries with mayo, a cheese plate, portobello spinach and cheese, onion soup, arancini, and beef tartar with foie gras. The fries were average, similar to those from La Belle Province but less oily. The onion soup was flavorful and creamy, while the cheese plate was good and we appreciated the waiter explaining the different cheeses. The arancini lacked flavor, but the beef tartar with foie gras was excellent - juicy, light, and tangy. For main courses, we ordered trout, braised beef in wine sauce, and a medium rare steak with fries. The steak took a while to arrive and was tougher than expected, with too many nerves making it difficult to cut. The trout had a great taste without any fishy aftertaste, and the braised beef was tender but overly chewy. While the plates had an abundance of carrots, the seasoning and presentation were nice. Overall, the food was okay, with highlights being the tartar and onion soup. Despite the disappointing tougher steak and chewy beef, the support of local products was a positive aspect. I would rate this place a 3.5 out of 5.
I highly recommend trying the crème brûlée at this restaurant! I visited for an early dinner and enjoyed the cozy and hip decor. I was impressed by the focus on local ingredients in the menu. The duck and polenta cake I ordered was delicious and perfectly cooked. The cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks were also tasty. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family and would gladly go back. The only downside was the limited options for non-meat dishes. While I appreciate the emphasis on local and natural ingredients, I hope that these terms are being used accurately and not to mislead consumers about the healthiness of the food.
