Merriments - Rother

I have been a patron of this restaurant since it first opened and the experience is consistently enjoyable. I have visited three times this summer for lunch or tea and cake, and the staff are always friendly and attentive. The food is delicious. I look forward to returning again, most likely later this week.

Poor ! Can’t do breakfast on a bank holiday as no staff! It’s their loss, we went elsewhere and probably won’t be back. I know things are tough but not enough staff to even do some kind of breakfast isn’t good enough! The staff member was miserable and didn’t even apologise, couldn’t care less!

Seems more of a cafe than a restaurant even though it's table service. The menu has a good range of light and more substantial dishes. The staff were attentive and friendly. good value

We stopped off here thinking we would get a light lunch for us adults my 3yr old. Wished we hadn’t bothered! There were no kids options whatsoever the staff weren’t helpful in providing any options other than a scone or a tea cake. I asked if they could just do a cheese sandwhich but that wasn’t possible. There is a cheese ham toastie on the menu, so I asked for it without the ham, but that wasn’t possible as “they are already made up” My hungry boy had to make do with a scone some salad crisps from my plate. Also no kid friendly drinks available. I ordered a vegetarian sausage roll was given pork!! So it just went from bad to worse. And we were given cutlery that was so filthy it didn’t even look like it had been washed at all. A terrible experience, very disappointing!

The restaurant is overpriced for the quality of food they offer. There were limited options for cakes during our visit, just like our previous experience. If you are vegan, don't bother as they claim to cater to you but never have any options available. We won't be returning.
