Bidrage med feedbackLike others, I experienced long waits for the most simple sandwich items when I visited this location. Then upon looking up the establishment, I learned more about the horrible treatment of staff! Employees poisoned by toxic gas. Disgusting!
I ordered a vegan chili and was served one with meat. After receiving the dish I asked if there was meat in it and was told it was vegan, but eventually confirmed there was meat. They apologized but this is extremely unacceptable. The other vegan dish I had was good but it really wasn’t worth it for this experience.
The owners of this Union Market are currently going through a lawsuit. The owners mixed together chemicals creating a toxic gas. They refused to close down the kitchen and exposed customers and employees to the hazardous air. An employee has permanent lung scarring and the owners refuse to pay for damages. Boycott this horrible establishment! DO NOT give them money. THEY DO NOT WANT TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS. MAKE THEM PAY!
The Union Market functions as a part hipster country store part restaurant . The food is decent and there are a plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, so it not a struggle to compose a nice lunch. There is also a nice patio with umbrellas covered tables to eat your meal at if you want to enjoy the weather. My only real complaints are that the staff can seem a little disinterested at times and the food is a little pricey.
Super cool deli with restaurant. Lovely outdoor seating. We had a hummus tomato appetizer that is our first photo. That would have been enough for a dinner. Beers were very good and local. The tempeh lettuce and tomato sandwich was worth hanging out another day in Richmond. The Veggie Club was fabulous. They really like their bread here, but you could take the sandwich fillings and have it on top of lettuce for a gluten-free meal. Recommend highly!
