Bidrage med feedbackWe booked specially for the Sunday Roast and we weren’t disappointed! We were given five star treatment and the meal was delicious. We were also tempted by a starter and a pudding to follow, both great. Our experience was so good we went back for lunch on the following day, two hot sandwiches, one with soup, one with chips, perfect combo. The major refurb, helpful friendly staff and value for money means the whole experience fully deserves to be busy all day every day. We look forward to returning!
This place should be busier, the food is superb. We came here for the Pizza Clock deal on a Wednesday evening along with some Cajun fries and onion rings yummy! Will be back soon :
6 of us stayed at The Station Hotel as we was attending a Wedding, the location is perfect as the hotel is situated just across the road from the train station and ideal for Clitheroe town centre itself. However, there is no way this hotel deserves a 4 star. The website advised that check in was at Midday which is why we all travelled by train as this gave us enough time to get ready for the Wedding, This was not the case as on arrival we was dismayed to find that the website was incorrect and that check in was actually 2pm and the rooms were not ready but the staff did, reluctantly, allow us access to the rooms to get ready. In general our room was not good, the carpet was very stained and filthy, the showerhead was broke and the handle to the wardrobe came off in your hand, to be honest the room really needs redecorating and going off feedback from our friends the rooms they stayed in wasn't much better. Later in the evening my partner nipped back to the room where the bed had been made and we had been given fresh towels but the room was still littered with dirty cups/glasses and rubbish from the previous guests. He did complain to the bar staff and when we returned the room had been cleaned and we had a small note in the form of an apology and extra biscuits, maybe a small refund would have been more appropriate. When we left the next morning no one was around to voice our opinions. I believe it cost my partner £90 for one nights stay, which is a rip off because as well as a below standard room there was no breakfast included, (for the money we spent Breakfast should have been included) . It is a shame because the hotel is in a such a lovely town in a perfect location and has so much potential. I do not like giving negative feedback but in this instance i feel as though we have not had value for money. Maybe at one point the four stars was deserved but not anymore, the hotel needs to check each room mend all the broken items as well as change the carpets and redecorate. Hopefully they will take this review as advise rather than being condemned because like I have already said it has so much potential.
From our check in to check out the staff could not have been more helpful. The owners however need to be a lot more attentive. Our first room was large but... The carpet was stained, the wardrobe handle came off in your hand, the very thin towels were like sand paper, the light fitting was broken and looked tatty, the shower holder was broken so you had to hold the shower in your hand and the tea cups were so tiny you could get 3 mouth fulls out of a cup. The delightful staff gave us their own mugs and provided us with fresh milk and extra biscuits. Our 2nd room was tiny (but the same price) . How they get away with calling it a double is questionable. I am 5ft 2 and I hit my head on the sloping ceiling. There were water stains on the bathroom ceiling. Staff gave us a spare hairdryer as soon as we mentioned it was missing. There is no breakfast included in the price and none available on site. Thankfully Clitheroe is not short of lots of fabulous cafes. The general menu was very poor for vegetarian food so we did not eat there at all. And at £8.85 for a glass of wine, we did not drink there either. The owners need to support their fantastic staff make this hotel pub worth going to.
The rooms are large, or small. The corner room we had was large with a full size bathroom and bath. The middle room we had was small with only a shower, but both priced the same. So if you can, ask for a bigger room. It has its own parking which considering its location in the centre by the station is good. When we asked for extra milk or a hairdryer as it was missing from our room the staff were very helpful and polite, offering extra biscuits while they were in the cupboard! There were a few tea stains on the carpets and a couple of water leak stains on the ceiling in the second room's bathroom. So a bit of a freshening up would be useful. But if you want somewhere that's clean but not pristine, good location and not too fussed about room size it's worth a go. Good staff make up for few shortcomings.
