Bidrage med feedbackSo my husband and I went there on a date night Friday night. (6/3/22) 5pm Our server was super sweet, the food was out fast and decent. I probably wouldn’t have any complaints if the manager wasn’t literally screaming at his employees and stopping around the restaurant our entire visit. There was only two other couples in the restaurant so it was very quite. His behavior was so unprofessional and it was incredibly awkward. The poor employees.. He also didn’t seem to mind that he was right by the dining room and in eyesight of all of us screaming at a young female employee about how she’s “NOT GOING TO WORK MORE THAN FIVE DAYS A WEEK!” She meekly responded that I couldn’t ever hear her and he yelled back “WELL SHE’S HERE NOW! YOU’RE NOT GETTING ANYMORE HOURS! SHE DOES THINGS AT THE HOTEL DURING THE WEEK! WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO SAY!” Obviously I have no idea what any of that even means but it was loud He honestly scared me and this poor girl was young. I would have got up and left right then had my husband not already started eating his 23$ steak. She did not deserve to be treated that way. Two other employees were standing there while he was yelling too. They all looked so embarrassed. After screaming at them he proceeded to stop around the restaurant, slamming menus on the counter and just being aggressive with a nasty look on his face. Like I was so disgusted at his behavior and the employees just resumed as normal like they were used to it. What a terrible environment to work in. I will not be returning just because of him.
We made the reservation on Open Table and reviewed their menu on the site. When we arrived and said we made a reservation on Open Table, we were told.”we do not have the app to see the reservation.” Really? They were not apologetic nor did they explain why they would use Open Table for their guests and then not link to the site. If I am honest, they were almost confrontational about it. Our table was set but dirty so we asked them to clean it. The gal who came to do it was sweet but used a spray bottle of cleaner which sprayed us and the menus. The menus were paper photo copies that were stained and wrinkled. I found some on the host stand that were fresh and took them to use. The menu on Open Table seemed more sophisticated and offered more in the way of fish entrees. The entrees were not well timed so came out before salads were eaten which is a pet peeve for us. The meals were okay…I had pot roast which was pretty darned good…the mashed potatoes I think were Instant or prepackaged, the gravy was the same. The vegetable medley was good. My husband’s chicken fried steak came with refried beans. A very interesting choice, to be certain, but he ordered the traditional mashed potatoes. I picked the restaurant for the evening and we are were excited to try a new place, but decided Cactus Reds will not stay in the rotation pool of restaurants for our group.
Got there and they said they didn’t take reservations… then was rudely told they charge 18% gratuity on parties over 6. Which I expected, but the girl clearly said it in hopes that we’d leave. Food was fine. Service was otherwise okay. But at the end they added 20%…
Enjoyed it very much. A very good variety of dishes appealed to all in our group. I was vacationing in Utah. I just wish Cactus Reds was in Oregon!
Don't let the fact that this restaurant is attached to the Comfort Suites deter you from eating here. The food is delicious! We had the nachos and the carne asada fries. They were so good we ate them all no leftovers! Our server was attentive but didn't hover. I'll be back!
