Bidrage med feedbackThis cafe is not worth the effort. It’s expensive, has no atmosphere we didn’t appreciate the manageress public patronising, scolding of a young, smiling, attentive waitress who couldn’t have been better with her customer service from the off. Not nice to overhear the nasty comments made, very disrespectful. My partner ordered coffee whist I ordered poached egg on toast. It was so very unappetising when it arrived. My partner left before he said anything not wanting to make a scene. Mine was so far away from poached egg on toast as you can see. It was also stone cold very watery, the bread was definitely not fresh. I say the bread as it hadn’t stayed in the toaster long that’s for sure. The tabs of butter had been put on the bread, unfortunately when opened were both pure liquid. It truly was awful. There are far, far better places to enjoy food not very far away.
Service is first class in the Gypsy Cream staff are friendly, attentive and highly professional. Food is excellent and very good value, including really tasty salads and a great choice of soups. Just leave a little space for cake.
It is a measure of how much I enjoyed the Welsh rarebit and side salad when I forgot to pour my tea (I'm very much a tea Jenny) until my plate was all but clean! The rarebit was toasted to perfection on lovely granary bread, the coleslaw was delicious and the salad was the best I've ever had full of little surprise ingredients. Hubby had the soup (lentil and ham) with a coronation chicken sandwich, which he declared excellent. Our only regret is that we left it so long to visit The Gypsy Cream! We will be back. Guaranteed!! Home baking was also purchased to take home with us.
We were warmly greeted by the owner when we arrived for breakfast just before the cafe opened at 9am. The breakfast and coffee were both delicious. We highly recommend this cafe. Although it was a bit challenging to find since it is set back from the sea front, it was definitely worth the effort.
Our first visit. It was very busy but there were a couple of free tables. They were short staffed so service was quite slow but the food was nice. Tasty jacket potatoes and the side salad was the best I’ve ever had! Packed with so many different things! Not a great selection of cakes on offer so didn’t bother to order any. There’s a note on the table saying they prefer cash payment which is something I’ve never seen before in a cafe/restaurant. I paid by card as I never carry cash.
