Shanghai - North Ayrshire

We both decided to give this Chinese takeaway a visit while in the area, on entering the shop itself appeared to be clean, the service was extremely quick, the food was fresh and hot, we both would not have a problem recommending this Chinese takeaway to anyone whilst in the area.

We’ve used the Shanghai many times and never had an issue. It was recommended by our trusted friends. We even told a visiting family to Largs, to use the Shanghai as we’ve never had any issues in food quality, service and the food has always been very good. The visiting family had a take away over the Easter bank holiday, as did my wife and I. Next day we met up and they were very disappointed as I my wife were. It was the worst Chinese takeaway we’ve had at the Shanghai, maybe it was all rushed over the bank holiday, who knows but not very happy. I have roast duck Chinese style it was over cooked and the food all seemed to be rushed, with very little preparation and thought. This may be a one off for particular reasons unknown to the punter. I’ll give it another go when we visit Largs next, and if the same I’ll be looking at other alternative take always.g

This is the worst rated place (on trip advisor) I have ever ordered from. Living in Largs the choice of take always is sadly limited (certainly with delivery). Having tried most since we moved back to Ayrshire last year, we tried this place on Sunday night. Our expectations were suitably low, however we ended up being delighted with the meal. It was delivered on time, the driver was pleasant and the person who took our phoned was also very pleasant. The dishes were tasty and it was all eaten by our family, a good result given some of the take always we have experienced. Praise when deserved, well done!

Disgusting, meal. Straight in the bin. Won ton soup was putrid. Horrible brown broth, no filling in won tons. Beef chow mein was vile as well, smelled off.

We’ve done a review before but some time ago. Wanted to try something different so often for a munchy box to start. Came with all the usual starters of ribs, chicken wings, spring rolls, salt and chilli chips and a curry sauce. Mains were chicken curry, beef with green pepper, chicken balls, prawn crackers and da sweet and sour sauce. Great value at £30 but definitely going back for more in view of the value for money. Recommended.
