Bidrage med feedbackWe went to celebrate my cousin’s 70th birthday as a surprise with afternoon tea. So disappointed the food was not what you would expect scones were dry the amount of food was disgusting for the price and everything was a bother for the staff. I certainly won’t be returning and certainly won’t recommend it
Visited here for Xmas lunch with my daughter. Had to wait a while for the cocktails we had ordered to arrive also the bottle of the Pinot Grigio rose we ordered was a bit tasteless. 1st course a pea mint soup , which was quite pleasant but nothing outstanding. It also had ham in it ? (The other soup choice was pea ham? . 2nd course I had apparently salt roast beetroot with a goats cheese salad. It was overwhelmed with walnuts, far too many. My daughter changed her mind had the classic prawn salad, which was full of prawns very nice. 3rd course roast free range turkey looked very nice vegetables nicely cooked, my fillet of beef forestiere was a nicely cooked piece of steak but the mushrooms etc with it were nothing exceptional . 4th course my daughters 70% dark choc mousse was very nice my apple almond crumble was good. 5th course Espresso affogato , we were neither asked or offered this course? The ambience was not that good in the dining area although the staff were very attentive the bar area was very cold it was as if the diners were finished so let’s turn all the heating off? Overall the meal was nice not sure how much of the £95 per head price goes to food but we will not be returning.
We had an incredible dining experience at this restaurant. The food was exceptional, but what truly made our visit special was the outstanding service from Kirsty and Evie. They definitely enhanced our meal and made it even more memorable. Big thank you to Larry and Carol for a wonderful dining experience.
I arrived at 4pm, between mealtimes, and was the only person seated in the restaurant. I was led to a cozy booth where you can dine more privately with up to three others. I ordered the 12oz fillet with peppercorn sauce and a side of macaroni cheese. The steak was cooked perfectly and was served with Koffman chips (slightly too salty but crispy on the outside and fluffy inside) and grilled vine tomatoes. The meal was tasty, but the price was on the higher side (over £70, including a pint and 10% gratuity). Comparing the cost to a 12-course meal at a single Michelin star restaurant where you would pay almost half the price, I found the prices here to be too steep. As a result, I have deducted a star from my rating.
I don't really understand the negative reviews. Unless we just happened to have a good experience. Our party of 7 dined here yesterday and we couldn't find any faults. The service was outstanding and speedy. The food was scrumptious. I thought the price was reasonable. The only drawback is that being part of a hotel, it doesn't have a traditional restaurant feel. A bit odd, but we would definitely come back.
