Couldn’t fault anything! Staff were amazing and food was incredible! 11/10
The good, the we enjoyed most of the food and the wait staff were fantastic. The not so good. We booked our table over a month ago (mid week booking) and we were given the worst seat in the house. Right at the front door and it was freeing. We asked if we could move and were told quite curtly, you booked a bar table and nothing else is available. There were several tables further inside the restaurant that remained empty the entire time we were there. While they did acknowledge when we arrived that the booking was for a Birthday no further acknowledgement was made. Why ask if there's no purpose to it.I've been looking forward to this lunch and visiting this place for a long time and while it was nice enough I expected a little better.Hot tip don't book the bar tables. They're at the front door. It's breezy, dark and dingy and you miss the amazing views the other part of the restaurant enjoys.
One of my favourite places to eat at the Peninsula.Well presented and delicious small dishes to share and excellent wine.
My husband and I were booked for a Jackalope ‘Rare Hare wedding’ in April this year. After much consideration of different venues on the peninsula and having dined at the restaurant before, we were very excited. We were planning a small wedding of 20-30 guests, but after extensive discussion with Kate (the wedding coordinator) and having a full tour of the venue with Olivia (from Rare Hare), we were very excited. During the tour we were shown the restaurant and the several locations to choose from for the ceremony (dry and wet weather options). As it was around the time of the F1 and Easter long weekend, we sent invites out to our families early to ensure accommodation and flights were organised, as we were aware this would book out fast. After asking several times if we could put a deposit down for this booking and being advised time and time again that this wasn’t needed at that point, we received a call that put the whole plan into turmoil.Kate advised us that a marquee was positioned where the rare hare ceremonies were usually held and that the barrel room (their usual alternate location) was in business, so it could not be used on this date. Kate did not provide any alternative options for the ceremony and simply advised us to talk to her manager Winnie (who was unavailable to speak at that time). We tried to contact Winnie for the following week, with two emails and six or so phone calls over multiple days (messages left with her colleagues each time) but did not get any response. As this was only two months before the wedding and our families had already booked to fly to Vic with non-refundable accommodation, the vacuum of information meant we had to find alternative arrangements for our ceremony and reception rapidly. It was only after we had found an alternative location for our wedding that we heard back. Even then, it was a very unhelpful conversation where no actual options for a ceremony location were given. It certainly felt like they did not want to work with us to find a solution and that a smaller wedding wasn’t worth their effort, communication, or respect.
