Bidrage med feedbackI lived in NZ over 26 years and it’s quite sad that our tradition food aren’t easily accessible. Except that when we went Rotorua trip when I was young and tried hangi at the hotel with Maori show (not sure if it was even authentic this was my first time eating boil ups. I loved every bit of it. Will definitely visit again and again, try hangi next time and even bring my non Maori friends too :
First time going and it was a great experience, interior is nice and has a lot of Moarti art work around with plenty of seating. Staff were very friendly and food was quick to come out. I got the chicken and pork with Kumara , pumpkin eg. Chicken was lovely succulent with plenty of flavour while the pork was a bit to greasy and had a bit too much grissle for my liking. Price was 15$ for the lot which was reasonable for a small business and the portion I got was huge and filled me right up. Would definitely go back and highly recommend to friends. Chur
This place is behind the landmark monument. Had the pork hangi meal consisting the pumpkin, spuds n sweet spuds, cabbage and stuffing. This is very similar to a roast meal but everything is steam cooked to keep the traditional natural flavours but without the earthly fume/taste like in a real cook in ground hangi, meat was well cooked on bone to bits and tender too, maybe should put a rock inside steamer.
Went to the Hangi shop to get some food. Was really good! Yummy hangi that tastes authentic and is cooked well. A little bit pricey but the food preparation is alot so justifies the price. Definitely coming again.
The only one of it's kind in Auckland (that I know of). While the décor, service or the presentation is like a standard take away fish and chip shop and could have been better, the food doesn't disappoint at all. They serve some nice, tender and tasty hangi and its as good as a boil-up probably gets. Definitely recommend at least once.
