Mclain's Market Lawrence

After I get the high-time cakes of our daughter here, I am looking forward to all my cakes being made here. we love mcclain to eat breakfast and get coffee. I have hired for the braut shower of my daughter catering and it was incredible and punctual. the high-time cake and the additional desserts we ordered for high-time reception were phenomenal. sometimes it takes a while to react to emails, but it is done.

We are SO pleased to have chosen McLains on KU’s campus to host our brunch themed wedding reception this past weekend. We had a guest list of about 70 people, ages 3 to 74, and everyone had an absolute blast at the party raved about everything from the food, to service, to decor/aesthetic. Sean was extremely responsive to my e-mails leading up to the day of, and Zach was so helpful, gracious kind to us while keeping the breakfast buffet drinks table stocked for our guests. Every staff member that we interacted with that day was stellar hospitable. The food was fantastic, and very reasonably priced for the amazing quality that we received. Everything was clean and organized, and we felt safe with the Covid recommendations they had in place. The location really was perfect for the mood we wanted for our ‘big day’ and my husband and I would recommend McLains for anything from grabbing a quick coffee to using their catering team to host an event. Thank you all for helping us to create such a beautiful memory on our wedding day!

My family visited McClain's over Thanksgiving break, so I'm sure we missed the rush of students, but we loved it. I was blown away as soon as we walked into McClain's by the trendy decor and presentation. Not only does this establishment look great but they really cater to the customers. You'll order your eats and drinks at the pastry counter and then find a fun nook to settle and enjoy! We had a huge order, one sandwich wasn't made right, and they delivered a huge tray of pastries as an apology. The breakfast sandwiches are excellent, the cinnamon rolls are awesome, mimosas were good and the coffee is some of the best I've had in town. Be sure to mention if it is your 1st time and you'll get a welcome cookie!

As a college student, this place is awesome. So many great spaces to study, great food and drinks, and such friendly people. It is a must see if you are in Lawrence.

I snagged a couple of bakery items this morning (yummy cinnamon roll and an iced sugar cookie). When I would previously purchase baked goods, they were put in a white waxy-like bag that was resistant to things like icing. I don't know when McClain's switched that up, but putting them in a brown paper bag is not a good idea. I would love if they would return to the white bags that seemed much more appropriate to baked goods. I'm hanging onto my bakery items until later in the work day, and now they will sadly sit in a saturated paper bag. I'm hoping maybe this was just a one-off thing with a single employee, and that maybe it isn't a permanent switch. Fingers crossed. Apart from baked good transportation issues this morning, I love the fun atmosphere of this location and truly appreciate having it so close to campus! Anyway, if the Lawrence campus location could please take the white bags back into consideration for baked good, I would LOVE that. Thank you! I'm changing my review from three to five stars based on the owner response. I never stopped to think about supply chain issues, but that explains the change in process. I'm grateful to McClain's for the feedback, and for their intention to use the wax paper bags, when the supply chain allows for it.
