Alchemy Coffee Bake House - Lawrence

Alchemy is a one-of-a-kind coffee shop! Artisanal, high-quality, and always presented with care, you certainly won’t find a superior cup anywhere else in Lawrence. Alchemy was the first place I ever tried a draught coffee. It’s phenomenal! Their new downtown location is spectacular, and that expanded space was much needed. If you’re a serious coffee drinker like myself, do not miss an opportunity to visit Alchemy!

This is a wonderful coffee shop and bake house! They have some of the best coffee and pastries. I’m a dedicated customer and I regularly drive an hour from my home to have coffee and breakfast here. I was really excited to order my wedding cake from here too, but unfortunately they weren’t very responsive. Replies to my inquiry typically took about 3 weeks and I waited over 2 months to receive an invoice to finalize my order. After following up and receiving no response I decided to go with another baker with better customer service. So I recommend them for their great coffee and food, but I don’t recommend ordering for a special event. Edit for clarity: I first emailed Alchemy on September 19th, 2021. The initial response was very quick on September 20th. I responded and did not receive another email until October 10th. Once again I responded and did not receive another reply until November 5th. During this time I did try to call and I went into the shop, but was told that they were too busy to talk with me. I finally received another response on November 6th, 2021 and we finalized the details and I was told I would receive an invoice and follow up from them within 4 weeks. They did not follow up or send the invoice and I reached back out on January 3rd. After not hearing anything since November and not receiving any follow up, confirmation, or an invoice and after several attempts of emailing and getting no response I finally cancelled my order on January 16th and as of today, February 12th they have finally cancelled it and responded to me via this review.

Decided to grab a quick breakfast I ordered the sausage sandwich I wasn’t a fan of it because it had a hint of either herbs or fruits. The portion was very reasonable I also ordered a coffee with dark chocolate in it it did not appetize my pallet. I will try this restaurant again but I will order some thing different.

If you have a big sign on your door saying open at 8, and you are still closed at 8:45, that's not cool. I guess I'll have to go to Starbucks from now on, since they have their act together and are actually open at the scheduled time. Being honest? Wow, what a concept.

I wish I lived in lawrence after eating here. I'd have breakfast here as much as possible! excellent eating and a good price. pic is sandwiched from her whole bagel breakfast, and the alchemist, cold brew with dark chocolate mandelmilch.
