Bidrage med feedbackI went on Sunday morning, 8:20 AM. I ordered two bagels with salmon. I spent almost $28 and the bagels were definitely not fresh. Very unfortunate, but I am not coming back again.
What an odd setup. Several culturally oriented food choices are under one roof and made by well intended kids who are still determining how those cultural foods should be prepared. At least for this company (Wise Sons) there is no resemblance to Jewish deli foods or an understanding of how to prepare them. The rye was not real soggy on one side and toasted with butter or oil on the other just greasy, with a sliver of tomato and minimal meat. The preparers were very nice and attentive to customers but clueless. No repeat visits.
I have been to this place on 24th Street in SF in the past and had enjoyed their pastries. I wanted to order babka but they did not have it at this location. I ordered a box of a half dozen everything bagels from the Lafayette location. They were NOT fresh. I could not chew the bagel at all. I knew something was wrong when it was so difficult to slice with a serrated knife. Extremely disappointed. I tried toasting it cream cheese and it was still not edible.
Loved almost everything about this place. All ingredients were fresh. Liked the kiosk like ordering system. Guy by the door, with an incredibly good radio voice (very deep) told us what we needed to do. The bagels, lox and tomatoes were incredible. And their schmear is really good too! Will definitely return! Also appreciated the tables to eat on outside.
I've picked up from Local Kitchens quite a few times and am really enjoying it! We moved from the Peninsula and used to work in SF and the South Bay and really miss some of the food options now that we are in the East Bay, especially for high quality flavorful takeout that isn't fast food.Local Kitchens has been our go-to place for easy quick take out of corned beef sandwiches from Wise Sons plus a variety of foods to suit our entire family's needs. Chicken fingers from Proposition Chicken are always a winner with all, as are the lumpia, sushirito, and of course the Curry Up Now dishes we miss from San Mateo. It's always fast and friendly, I love that I can quickly do it on the app and get multiple cuisines and styles (snack, meal, drinks, etc all in one spot. Prices seem on the high side but that sadly is the norm nowadays, and I haven't seen the prices be any higher than they were in the original restaurant. In fact I think once I ordered from Wise Guys in SF and it was $0.50 more than at Local Kitchens somehow! Location is awesome since it's on Mt Diablo, easy to park and pop in and out before heading to errands or back on the freeway. Handy screen to show if your order is ready if you're there in person, or handy to check the app to see if it's done already. The staff is always friendly too, and if you're waiting for awhile they'll try to hurry yours up a bit to get you on your way. Hot food is stored hot, cold food it stored cold. Love that it's separated! Our last order had a nice cold bag from the fridge for sushirito and a a nice warm bag of corned beef, lumpia, and chicken tenders. Variety is the spice of life, right? Thx Local Kitchens for making this mama and those around me happy (since I often buy enough to share!
