Most Whole Foods that are around me are pretty blasé, with nothing too exciting because it's everywhere. However, to have this place in Knoxville is another story. This place is hopping! Everyone loves it, and it is overflowing with staff members helping out and working their hardest. As far as vegan items, you can find all the standard natural, organic vegan goodies from produce to ice cream to non-dairy milk to entrees to juice to grains to bulk to snacks. What seems most exciting though is there prepared foods areas with coffee (almond milk latte! , juice (fresh pressed , organic salad greens, soups, pizza, entrees, sides and sandwiches. Quite the choice for the local seeking a little bit of everything. Parking is challenging, but when you're in, you're good to go!
The salad table offers one of the weakest vegan options I've encountered in the USA. The staff mentioned that there is no demand, but perhaps that's because there's not enough variety available. As a result, people are unaware of their options and don’t inquire about them. Manager, please catch up with the 21st century—at least consider adding some tofu to the menu!
I was really excited when Whole Foods opened in Knoxville, but my enthusiasm quickly faded. First, I noticed that there are very few vegan options available. The only prepared vegan dish I enjoy is the bowl from the Asian section. Additionally, I was disappointed to find that there aren't many local products—I'm talking about items from Knoxville or nearby. The prices are also frustrating, and I generally don’t like to spend a lot on food. Ultimately, I find the prices to be outrageous and unappealing. Now that it’s owned by Amazon, it feels like Whole Foods has lost its identity as a health food store. I think I’ll be exploring other options instead.
