Kris' Fish & Chips - Gimli

Great pickerel. This place seemed to be the most popular restaurant on the main drag. I really wanted some fish 'n chips so this seemed to be the place. You place your order, pay and then they bring the food to you.<br/ <br/ Their specialty is the fish n ' chips are available in medium $9.95 and large size $13.95 with the choice of pickerel, cod, or haddock. The halibut option is $18.95 and pickerel cheeks are also available but only when they are in season, which they were not over the labour day weekend. I opted for pickerel and there was a choice of pan seared or crispy battered. I chose the traditional crispy batter which was really light and not too greasy. The pickerel was fresh and delicious with the lemon that came with it. I didn 't mind the tartar but I find that the sauce tends to overwhelm the taste of the fish. The fries were disappointing as they were super limp and kinda soggy.<br/ <br/ The cheeseburger was ok nothing great just your typical burger. The chocolate sundae with nuts was $3.95 for a small and was disappointing as well since the soft serve was very bland very thick texture but not enough taste for me. But their milkshake was outstanding asked for a peanut butter and chocolate mixture and they made it for us since they had warm PB available. Oh my was that milk shake good.<br/ <br/ There 's lots of seating inside and outside which wraps around the exterior of the restaurant but it 's a bit cramped outside. also, there were lots of flies around which didn 't make for the most enjoyable experience.<br/ <br/ But otherwise, service was really friendly and food was served up fairly prompt on such a busy day. I 'd definitely go back for the fish and chips.<br/ <br/ They accept cash and debit here.

Different from some other Gimli places as their pickerel burger has tarter rather than mayo and pickles. They had curry mayo rather than Tzatziki dip for the onion rings. Everything was tasty. Would return.

Cute little place downtown Gimli. They have a few choices of fish and chips. Portions were good and the food was good. Not sure if I would make the drive just for the fish and chips, but would eat there again.

You can't go wrong with this place. Their fish and chips are always consistent in flavour and portion. Always busy with line up during lunch especially at this time of year. I always make it a point to grab something to eat at this place when in Gimli.

Fantastic all you can eat fish and chips. The salad is delish as well! Shame we drove all the way out to Gimli to find out they close at 5pm on a Sunday! Not impressed! Seeing as Zomato says its currently open! What a shame!
