Bidrage med feedbackWas looking for a place to eat this afternoon, and found myself stopping by for an early dinner. I hadn't eaten at Little Germany since they were still at their old location close to downtown. I ordered the fried mushroom's as an appetizer, and for my main meal, I had the bratwurst dinner plate, and washed it down with an ice cold German bier. Everything looked and tasted good... Gotta give props to Heidi my waitress for being very knowledgeable about the menu, and about her future career endeavors. She might just be your future cardiologist someday...
If you like what the food at Edelweiss used to be like many many years ago, then you will like Little Germany. The food here is good and the service is quick. They do not have all the German memorabilia on the walls or the oompa band but they have good food. I am a fan of the jagershnitzel, sauerbraten, and fondue.
The Hefe Weizen had a very evocative taste As sometimes happens, I liked this place better than my wife did, but I thought it was just fine. Servings are immense, and the presentation was more generous than raffinee, My Schweinebraten with mushrooms was really good; an apple strudel dessert was more than enough to satisfy us both. Next time in Fort Worth we'll certainly consider returning
Last time we were here when they were on N Henderson Roundabout north of downtown FE and we were ecstatic with the deliciousness of the food. They got a 5 star review from me then. Today not so much. Food and ambiance were seriously lacking How do you screw up German sausages? They're pre made and all you have to do is heat them up. These sausages were split and grilled to burnt mine was dry as shoe leather and so I sent it back for a less abused different sausage, which arrived split and grilled but NOT burnt. Our waitress was polite, appropriate, and professional, but another waitress walked by after yelling at the cook (who had made a mistake on her order) muttering to herself about what he needed to be doing instead of what he was doing and I won't repeat what she thought he was doing. In 30 years of marriage I have never seen my husband, who lived in Germany and who LOVES German food, not finish his plate of German food. He left 1/2 a sausage, all but one bite of the mushy overcooked sauerkraut l, and 1/2 his spaetzle. Girls got jaegerschnitzel which were well fried and tasted good, but add the gelatinous gooey gravy and the dish was 2 stars. Without the gross gravy 4 stars. even if the gravy was gooey. Wayyyyy to much cornstarch in the gravy a little goes a long way. Ambiance is horrible doesn't feel like a German place once you leave the hostess stand the wall sconces (left over from the previous Mexican restaurant in this 1970s Dennys) are of Mexican cultural places and we recognized the snow topped mountains of Mexico City on the wall. Air conditioning is a blower on the floor I mean, REALLY?? Service 4 stars Food 2 stars Cold beer 5 stars Ambiance 1 star A truly disappointing experience we think in between the last time we ate here and this time the restaurant ownership has changed. We spoke to the original owner at the N Henderson roundabout location and he was 100% German heavily accented English and everything. The restaurant was decorated with a ton of German stuff. On this visit I saw a news article that said the restaurant and recipes had been sold to the Gonzalez family, who pledged to keep making the recipes like the former owner did. Not even close. Robert Irvine these folks need a Restaurant Impossible intervention ASAP!! 2 worst a German I've ever had stay on Camp Bowie and eat at Edelweiss stars
Incredibly so bad that it must be from a complete disregard for quality. The highlight was the red cabbage which was edible, the worse was the iced tea that had a foul taste making it undrinkable. Fried potatoes and jager schnitzel were both greasy and tasteless, the breading on the cutlet fell off at a touch. Bread bland and tasteless. Location used to be a Denny's and Denny's would be a big improvement in quality.
