The breakfast was amazing. The website said reservations needed but I walked up and waited maybe 10 minutes and got seated at the ?community? table. I would go again for lunch or dinner. Everyone was so nice and the place was clean and well lit.
This place has open kitchen concept which I loved with a lot of windows for sunlight. Staff is very friendly, I thought I soup was great and liked my main dish, but I did think chicken was bit dry. Thing that's different about this place is that you decide the price of your food, and its an none profit. So you can pay only whatever you can afford, whatever you think it cost and if you can spare little extra. I really love the concept of this restaurant SO much, and didn't knowuntil I was paying that there was some homeless people eating around us. I will support this however I can.
Fantastic mostly heart healthy foods. I got the citrus salad and sweet potato risotto. Make sure to pay it forward if you can!
[Edit] Over a year later and I love this place even more if that 's possible). I 've seen 4 seasonal menus and the food maintains its wonderful awesome delicious ness. The staff and volunteers are ever so gracious and have a heart for God. If you have a couple of hours consider volunteering, or come by and have lunch, bring a friend or 2 and 'taste and see the Lord is good ... ' Feb. 14, 2018: I really am in love with this place, it 's volunteers and customers. The first thing you notice is the welcome you get as you come through the door, like being welcomed into someone 's home. Then the look of the space, open beams, lots of exposed brick and blond wood, light and airy. Gorgeous! The wait staff are all volunteer and are more than happy to explain the menu to you and guide you on this culinary journey. Chef Jeff and his staff have been busy making house made buns, bacon, pickles and more that make this a marvelous dining experience. My 1st go I had the Southern Shrimp and Grits, so good, stone ground cheese grits topped with sautéed shrimp in a melange of savory peppers and bacon. Chef and his crew grind fresh sirloin for the chili, delish! Portions are large for some, just right for most, no skimping here! Food is so good, concept is so amazing that I now volunteer here regularly. The concept: Chef Jeff and wife Julie are on a mission: 'Our mission is to feed, educate and serve our community so that they may '...taste and see the Lord is good. ' Psalm 34:8 ' Their customers can do one of the following: 1) pay what you can afford. 2) pay what you would typically pay at a comparable restaurant) or 3) pay what you would typically pay plus a little extra for those who are unable to pay much) Such a beautiful and rewarding experience. Open during lunch 11a 2p Tuesday through Sunday, for now. Please make a reservation if you have time constraints and let the hostess know. The diners are seated with a 'paced method ' so as not to overwhelm the volunteer wait staff, but any wait is well worth it! Things to try, drinks: pour over coffee or the lemonade; small plates: bruschetta, Farro salad more); mains: apple bacon sammy, crispy taters, burger, shrimp n grits and the chili. Share a dessert or not), decadent! Yes, I love this place!
