Sorry, not sure if my southern tastes are just different. But this was not good. I'm used to brisket that is rubbed and slow cooked in a smoker. This brisket tasted like it was boiled in unseasoned water and slathered in the worse bbq sauce I've evertasted. I was really disappointed to spend $40 on such a terrible lunch. I really wanted to like it.
Great place with awesome food. Visited with a coworker the other day and we opted for the seafood options because of Lent. We got the jalapeno poppers for appetizers and shrimp lunch and the breaded catfish for main meal, everything was fresh and tasty.The owners were there when we went and they were very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed throughout ourtime there. Can't speak for the BBQ but overall great seafood options with reasonable prices.
Julian's barbecue is awesome. You can taste the smoke in the meats. Their meats are tender and smoked to a tee. My favorite side dish is their baked beans. There's something awesome about them not too tangy, not too sweet. I've been to Julian's manytimes, and I will continue to patronize them.
The mozzarella sticks and french fries were good; unfortunately that's where the goodness ends. We were a party of 6, and ordered various items: 1 lb of brisket, 2x pulled pork sandwiches, 1x pulled chicken sandwich, 1/2 rack of ribs. The brisketwas practically swimming in water, obviously pre-sliced and kept in a steam table tray. No flavor from any sort of rub. Themeat was tough. Sliced way too thin which is a trick used to fake out an either under cooked, or overcooked brisket. Thepulled pork sandwiches were also void of any flavor aside from the sauce that they put on the sandwich. The pulled chickensandwich was absolutely disgusting. The meat was as tough as shoe leather, and literally swimming in sauce. No flavour at allagain from the rubs they used, nor could you taste any sort of smoke from the pit they used. The ribs were not cooked enough,very dry and tough. It's unfortunate that this was our experience when others seem to have had better ones. Perhaps an offday, but we will not be returning.
