Bidrage med feedbackNot many restaurants actually have a tantalizing aroma (unless you validate that which is naturally being produced as a result of chemistry occurring in the kitchen). However, a wonderful scent drifts within the confined walls of Blue Corn Café! The pleasant smell isn?t intense; you only get a whiff upon entering. Anyway, the café is well kept, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. For an appetizer, my daughter and I had guacamole and cheese dip with multicolored chips.Appetizing indeed! For our main dishes, she selected a steak quesadilla and I had steak fajitas. I highly recommend both! Very delicious meals (she gave me a bite)! I did notice, unlike other restaurants offering Hispanic foods, the blackbeans had a distinct, sweet taste. I personally enjoyed them! Our server was a young man, Sebastian. He was raised with great manners. Not only did he served us well, but he even held the door for us when exiting the lobby. We shall return!????
First-time diners and the experience did not disappoint! The restaurant was spacious and clean, and the staff was extremely friendly. Our server, Tessa, was very knowledgeable of the food selections and provided us with exceptional service. We ordered guacamole for an appetizer, and it was delicious. The steak fajitas were tasty, and the black beans were out of this world. I highly recommend giving this hidden gem a try.
Outstanding food choices. Very authentic. Truly the best margaritas in town!
I recently returned to Blue Corn after many years, and found it to be even better than I remembered. It's sort of a Mexican-inspired bistro and a neighborhood gem. The food is very good, the service is even better, the atmosphere is pleasant, and it is conveniently located on Ninth Street. This is not a fancy place, but their dishes are thoughtful. The menu offers variety without trying to be everything to everyone so they can focus on doing what they do very well. Best of all, they have many gluten-free options (I suffer from celiac disease , which you cannot say about most places in Durham. (Even though they make their chips in-house, they fry them in a fresh batch of oil before they fry anything with gluten, so the chips are even gluten free! They have a good wine and beer list. They make excellent salsa and excellent guac. I definitely recommend the bean cakes, which are hearty and come with a very good salsa, slaw and a few salad greens. The prices aren't cheap, but seem reasonable, while the portions are generous.
Delicious food! Very nice restaurant for friendly lunch or dinner.
