Cathy's Place - Darwin

Late lunch for two today. Cathy and her team welcomed us with smiles and amazing food. We got to pick our own crab (and even got to take photos with it) which was cooked up with sauce and sides of our choice. There are so many sauces to choose from, we went with the “NT Chilli”, egg rice and bread rolls.. delicious! Being our first time trying mud crab, we had no idea where to start. Cathy herself came out giving us a demonstration on how to crack our crab up to get the most out of it! Dirty hands and shirts later, we walked out two VERY HAPPY customers. If you’re wanting to try mud crab for the first time or even if you have before, trust in Cathy’s Place. She sure knows what she’s doing. To add, beautiful location on the marina, overlooking the water and plenty of options for beverages.

Had a terrible experience here... I walked in and asked if they were serving food as was quiet. She responded with restricted menu (which is fine) and that they only serve mudcrab which is what I was after. Then this lady said she knows her English is bad out of literally nowhere, before walking me out to point at a faded out sign. But tbf felt like a hurricane conversation, I didn 't get to say anything outside of I know it 's just mudcrab, that 's why I was curious about eating here. Felt like she looked me up and down, made up her mind before walking me out. I 'm sure the food here might be decent, but I wouldn 't know tbf as this is the most unwelcoming restaurant I 've been to in my life...

Cathy is a **** legend, we loved getting to know her. You won't find fancy customer service here, you'll find a sense of humour (hopefully) loads of banging of hammer to crab action! We're still salivating over the thought of our NT Chilli crab . BEST. EVER. You bettcha, we will be back Cathy Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner

One of the best culinary experiences I've ever had. Cathy is hilarious, attentive and her crab-cooking skills are incredible. If I could give this place more stars I would.
