Bidrage med feedbackOur last stop when we returned to Santa Fe after driving the Turquoise Trail was dinner at the Shaft Tavern Mine. This is a historical restaurant bar originally built for local miners; burned after the original building, it was rebuilt on this website approx. 1947, and this is the place you see today. Our food was excellent, and our server was attentively friendly. The only negative over the restaurant was that REALLY was cold; they just started the fireplace when we arrived, but all diners, including us had their coats up while they ate. One of the reasons why we stopped was that we had heard there would be live music. It turns out that the restaurant and the Cantina are two separate rooms, so after we ate, we went next to the Cantina to listen to the music. I don't know if we just picked up a bad moment, or if the mood is always the same, but we were absolutely enlightened by some sketched males as soon as we got in. I'm not going to speculate why that would have been, but it made us both uncomfortable enough that we didn't stay. But, as I said, the restaurant was a completely different experience, and really good.
The service was great as the food. Madrid is an interesting place. It used to be a mining town and some evidence of this heritage is visible. Therefore, the name of the Shaft Mine for this place. Vegetarian friendly.
A picturesque and other small town where Wild Hogs was filmed. Maggie's and the Taverne Mining Wave had the best burger I had in a while.
I grew up in Santa Fe and I've stopped at the shaft since my childhood. My uncle's band played there in the 90s. It certainly has a uniqueness, but the food was never top-notch. It used to be a cult lover, especially because the city itself was so strange, but more (like the majority of Madrid), it has become something more than a tourist trap. Not bad, but nothing special.
Good food and beer in a historic establishment with a lot of history and probably a few ghosts. Looks like they also have a stage and do live music.
