Overall this place is super cool looking and really makes you feel like you’re in a fine dining experience.Until you get the food. We got the duck wings which were exceptional, but really should be for $18 , for 5 wings. (Also came out quit slow for an appetizer )We then ordered entrees and got the short rib with noodles, and then I got the chicken and waffles(which replaced the fried chicken on the menu). The noodles had very tough cooked mushrooms in them, and even before my date received her dish we saw the table next to us order it, and neither of them looked happy either, and it was barely touched. As well as my chicken and waffles was quite basic. The chicken was cooked great with some spice and well cooked , but the waffle was a “potato waffle” . The dish had no sweet component so it felt like I was simply eating chicken with a hash brown. Overall the taste was quite lacking for the price of the food. I feel like any chef tasting that dish would agree something is missing. Then we got the check, only to be a 20% fair wage” charge added to the bill automatically. Then a tip was even asked after that bill was paid , which is absolutely ridiculous. I would’ve maybe tipped 10% (if no fair wage charge had been added) because the server was quite nice and doing her best. But overall expensive , not well prepared food. Paying a bill of over $125 and not be satisfied with her food makes me not want to come back here ever.
Honestly I was a bit disappointed by the food. We ordered the pear and burrata appetizer and the bread was so stale that it was pretty inedible. The chicken in my pasta was super dry. The meal was just okay, but given the price, I would have expected much more.Vegetarian options: I had the veggie burger and it was just okay.
Dominic and the rest of the staff were absolutely incredible. My partner and I both have food allergies and River and Woods was wonderfully accommodating. Fantastic food and drink too!Dietary restrictions: Extremely allergen friendly
Upscale comfort food and great cocktails. Just for the menu it gets 5 stars. The restaurant proper is tiny, but the extension they've built in the back yard works pretty well. It's not gorgeous, but good company and good food/drink make up for a lot of that.Service was friendly but not always the fastest (but the servers deserve extra credit because you can't get from the front of the restaurant to the back area without passing through the middle of the split kitchen where all the servers are waiting by the passes). While they have ways of dealing with accessibility issues, they do definitely exist. There's available parking off Pearl Street (this is well before the mall), though it's a little catch as catch can.Parking: Difficult on Pearl St. itself; there's a side street a half-block away that usually has open stalls.Wheelchair accessibility: Main front-to-back passage includes stairs. It's possible to access the back area down the alley; unsure about going around either side.
