Bacaro Osteria - BORGO A MOZZANO

20 minutes drive from Lucca, this is unassuming place looking little bit shoddy serves great, super fresh seafood. Except for us, all other people were locals on daily plate. We ordered from the menu, four people at EUR 50. Great value.

Fabulous fish. Reasonable and absolutely delicious. Charming service. Go!! The decor is also lovely and there is an outside eating space for sunny days.

Came across this osteria by chance on our way back from lucca. We stay for 2 months of the year in castelvecchio pascoli which is a twenty minute drive away and unaware of this gem. We had their midweek fixed lunch menu at 10 euros which was very good in particular their pasta dishes. It was my husbands birthday following Sunday so we booked For Sunday lunch along with my parents. Everything from start to finish was excellent along with the little extras included.Although we were surprisingly the only 4 in the restaurant the waitress was very attentive and helpful. It seems a shame that so many tourists come to this area and are unaware of this osteria possibly because it's difficult to access from the main road. Unfortunately we are back in scotland now but look forward to returning later in the year. I definitely reccomend their antipasto and the frittora mista.

We stumbled on this restaurant when we were looking for some seafood there is a retail outlet next door. They had a Pranzo (workers lunch) special on the first day we visited and we were very happy with the food and service so we thought we would come back again. They advertised a Catalan night so we booked a table with some friends and we are so happy we did. For €23 per head we had a 4 course seafood feast plus all drinks included. The main course consisted of a full lobster, a whole crab and some prawns all on a lovely fresh salad WOW!! The restaurant has a clean modern layout and the staff are very friendly helpful. We will be going back again before we return to Australia.
