Zehr's Deli & Bakery - Bancroft

We used to adore this bakery as the ideal place to grab freshly made sandwiches on homemade bread, along with unique deli items and cheese. However, it has now transformed into a convenience store with generic items that can be found at any grocery store for less. The fresh bakery and cheese sections have been removed, so it can no longer be considered a deli. Additionally, they now offer fried chicken that doesn't look appetizing. This change has been a major letdown for the community.

I purchased three slices of carrot cake. All of them were dry, and we found some unwelcome surprises in our desserts: a 2.5 inch strand of human hair, a piece of plastic bag, and something sharp and crunchy (possibly nut shells). We were very disappointed.

We decided to visit this deli and bakery while passing through town. We were in search of a delicious sandwich and we were not disappointed! The staff was very friendly, there was a wide selection of options, and the quality of the food was top-notch.

There is not really a lot available at this bakery and restaurant though what they have seems ok. We got food to go

Made a quick stop while visiting Bancroft. Coffee was excellent. Bread looked fresh. I bought 2 squares from the dessert showcase and they were tasty, but average. Nice place for small town. Service was FRIENDLY which always matters :
