La Locanda Del Cardinale - ASSISI

A group of 4 of us got the 5 course meal with beef tartar, steak, and a dish with raw duck egg. I got food poisoning and got really sick for 24 hours. Would not wish that on anyone as it was absolutly horrible. Another person got sick in the group but not as bad as I did. No one in the group really liked the taste of the food. The service was great and the concept was neat with seeing the ruins. Wine and dessert were good.

Inventive and well executed blend of traditional and contemporary dishes. Unique dining area hovering over the Roman ruins.

My wife and I were looking forward to our meal, based on prior reviews. Unfortunately, we may have been there on an off night, as our experience was mixed. The setting was stunning, a glass floor over Roman ruins, and the ambience was fine. Our initial service was attentive by a more senior waiter and the sommelier, but mid meal we were clearly turned over to an earnest but clearly inexperienced server. Our meal courses were very uneven. I found my “Egg Confit” app to be superb, but my wife’s smoked eggplant app was not that great. She had the pasta with white truffle special, which was surprisingly not that aromatic, and my local lamb was well prepared but the cuts of meat were only so so. I did find a very nice Sagrantino wine on the list, but overall it was skewed more to international wines than I like, given that there are so many excellent Italian wines, which I felt were underrepresented.

We did New Year in this beautiful restaurant, located in the center of assysi. magnificent location, with transparent glass floors that make you see the mosaics below of Roman times. attentive and punctual service, class environment. the knot included three small appetizers (oyster green apple and yogurt, broccoletto astic and mango and topinambour curcciola and marcona almond,) two first (egg confit spuma di potato fritta e tartufo, and tortelli with artichokes to the brace scampi and bergamotto,) a second (wagyu umbro with millefoglie of wine very sweet wine cellar a great musical accompaniment in the evening. recommended local for couples and important evenings in the name of a level of food and wine.

Surprising place, with ancient structure and with glass floor that allows you to see the old floor and the distribution of the rooms. dishes are imaginative: from rice spaghetti with clams to an excellent vegetable composition. I mean, it's a restaurant and not a trattoria. the wine card is infinite! the price is suitable for quality and service, with very impeccable waiters. recommended!
