Bidrage med feedbackWe went here for our anniversary dinner and were not disappointed! They serve freshly made pasta and sauces at reasonable prices. Not really built for large parties, but it's the perfect date night spot. We had the pasta Bolognese and the red pepper one with pancetta. Both were delicious! My husband couldn't stop raving about the red pepper sauce. He scraped the bowl clean. We also ate their tiramisu no coffee. It wasn't overtly sweet and my Austrian husband even remarked it's very authentically European in taste. It's my new favorite dessert. Our server was also great and wait time wasn't an issue, but I think we got there before the rush.
I've been meaning to give this place a try as I am passionate about Italian food and homemade pasta. We went on a Friday evening and the staff was friendly but busy. Understandable, we walked around the area after putting our name in the list. When we sat down I ordered bruschetta and some pasta dishes. The bruschetta was good! It didn't wow me with flavor. Next I got a fettuccine Al Ragu bolognese. Fresh pasta was lovely. It was very flavorful, but unfortunately a bit oily. Perhaps a bit less sauce to pasta ratio would have helped. This was also the case for my husbands cacio e pepe a bit too salty and overly sauced! Pecorino Romano is already very salty, so it can be a challenge to balance. Lastly I had the tiramisu, which was also just okay. It didn't have a very strong coffee flavor to cut through the rich cream. We were happy to be there and thought this was a great date night.
I'm thinking I shouldn't give Mastra a review because when people find out how good it is, it will get super crowded like all of the other FEW good restaurants in this area and I won't be able to get in. As soon as you bite into any of their pasta dishes, you know it's authentic. My husband and I got takeout and split the pesto lasagne and caprese salad with 2 big fresh mozzarella balls. The pesto was homemade and one of the best I have had anywhere. The seasoning on the salad was great, too. I could just eat the focaccia bread as a meal. The meal was plenty for the two of us. The restaurant is over in the vicinity of Crumbl but in the little shopping strip just south of the cookie shop by the Emergency Clinic. We will definitely go back. If you are a meat lover, there's only a couple of dishes with meat. After indulging in these two dishes, I didn't care. We desperately need good restaurants here, NOT another fast food restaurant, please. I highly recommend Mastra!
The food here is delicious! Casual but clean and bright eating area. We went on a weekday around 5:30 so it wasn't super busy but weekends and after 7 prepare for a wait. But boy is it worth it! I've never had authentic Italian food nor have I been to Italy, but I imagine this is what the food there tastes like. Super fresh, great seasoning and comforting yummy food. We also got the berry pans cotta and oh man that was delicious!! But the star of the show was the focaccia...buttery and light and melt in your mouth!! This will be my new place to go when I need comfort food and a treat.
The service was mid. The ambiance was delightful, we came at a busy time which I don't suggest because it's a small place but it was so cute in there! The carbonara to me tasted like dog treats with the bacon however my boyfriend LOVED it. I am obsessed with the pesto! And the focaccia was DELIGHTFULLY fluffy! And the tiramisu is a MUST TRY!
