Mr. Dewie's Cashew Creamery - Albany

Haven't been in a while...so glad I checked out the place in Albany...highly suggest the ... yummmmmmmy!

Non dairy ice cream. Tastes like the real thing. Tried chocolate, ultra macha, and planning to go back to try the coffee flavor and ither chocolate offerings. Much better than the store non-dairy ice creams. I also get a kick how the founders have a strong resemblance to my coworker, except he spells his name Dewy.

We came across this place several years ago on a day trip and finally made it back! It was the first time I had ever had cashew ice cream and I was blown away! The texture is so creamy and the flavors were on point! I really should be avoiding dairy and if there were more places like these I probably would. It it the best non-dairy ice cream option that I've had. Others have an underlying east of whatever it's base is but I didn't taste any additional flavor other than the strawberry flavor I ordered. There's some tables outside to sit and enjoy and a cute bench against the store to sit and take in the view.

I am posting this review more than 4 years after my first visit at Mr Dewie's Cashew Creamery. I have been vegan/plant-based since year 2016 (over 7 years) and was visiting some friends in Berkeley and I literally cannot stop thinking of this place. Being plant-based I have tried dozens of different brands of nondairy treats, but nothing has compared to the ice cream we got at Mr. Dewie's. I think it's the cashew-milk base because they are full of flavor, no weird cream aftertaste, and perfectly sweet yet not overbearing. I cannot stress enough how good their ice cream is, specifically their Strawberry!! The strawberry flavor from Mr. Dewie's , is literally hands-down the best ice cream I have ever had in my life. I can say with confidence that it is on my last-meal list.

Went to the Berkeley area this long weekend and finally got to try this place out which had been on the bucket list for a while! If you are vegan this is a cute ice cream shop for you. The ice cream here is made of cashews over dairy and honestly my boyfriend said if he didn't know any better he wouldn't have known it was vegan that's how creamy it was! The shop was cute and casual inside with some benches and tables outside which was great. The service was really sweet and they let us try different flavors to sample which was nice. We ended up getting the turmeric spice and the chocolate orange chip ice cream which were both unique yummy and creamy. If you are looking for some unique flavors with taste this is a good spot to check out.
