Great pub. Atmospheric. Good Guinness and great friendly staff. Would definitely recommend. Can think of worse ways to spend an afternoon
I have been visiting Morrissey's for over 20 years now, and bless it, it had been going a little downhill these past few years. Roll on 2022, new owner and management, a little money spent in the back garden (yes, that was a major surprise! a spruce up indoors, new management and staff, and all is more than well. Still the best pint in Ireland. Enjoyed the live music out back. Next stop, a little food please. There is only so much Taytos and Scampi Fries a man can eat. My kids are all grown up now and are buying me pints. Moved on from Red Lemonade to harder stuff. Well done all at Morrissey's
On a day out with friends I brought two friends to Morrisseys having discovered they had never been there before. And what a surprise for them. They just loved everything about the pub. So interesting looking at all the old memorbelia. And the pictures to check out. We were lucky to meet a Grandson of a Man who worked there so he gave us a lot of information. And the Guinness was so good. And Shane was an excellent barman so friendly chatty. A really pleasant visit that my friends will be talking about for a while.
This used to be the jewel in the crown of Irish pubs, but it has taken on a neglected aspect. It is tired and dreary and in dire need of some TLC. Loud dance music in mid-afternoon was utterly incongruous. I used to recommend a trip to Morrisseys to all visitors to Ireland, but the days when it won pub of the year (2004) seem very far away.
