Really great for the price! Definitely not traditional omakase but still delicious and a lovely meal for the price!
Went in reading the reviews so I knew what not to expect traditional Japanese omakase. This place attempts to be creative by torching and putting various sauces on the fish. At times, they do both. As other reviews have said, it overpowers the fish and you cannot taste the fish at all. For someone not expecting traditional sushi, this is a good option because of its relatively low price point. For myself, who loves traditional Japanese omakase, this was a hard pass. One key point that I did not appreciate was that they did not provide your own pot of tea for refilling your teacup. Instead, while the servers constantly and diligently refills your tea, they take your little cup with their hand and refills it for you. As the cup is quite small, their fingers enclose where you place your lips. Now imagine, they refill tea for everyone in this way. It was very unpleasant and unsanitary and an effective way to spread and transmit diseases especially COVID. I hope the restaurant reads this and changes the way they refill tea because it was truly unappetizing for me to witness this.
What a rude and uncreative chef: even though we spoke in advance and the chef said he would accommodate the member of our party who could not eat raw fish, there was nothing but raw fish! It was humiliating that one person had nothing to eat, and insulting that it was nevertheless so expensive. Is he just a fish-slicing robot?
Really poor attempt at Omakase. The only dish that was good was the untouched uni. Everything else is butchered and ruined. Even the ootooro, one of the best parts of tuna, was ruined by their preparation. Would not recommend and won't be coming again. My suggestion to the staff and chef: 1. Treat the ingredients with care. Torching raw fish, lack of balance in flavors, over dressing and seasoning just isn't what Japanese food is about. 2. Make the clients feel welcome. The fact that you won't let diners have ice water because it's restaurant policy exemplifies the lack of consideration shown throughout the meal.
