Carlene's Cafe - Zavalla

Small country restaurant with a simple buffet. The chicken fried steak is the best, as are the mashed potatoes. Service is spectacular... they learn customer's wants and needs quickly. We stopped at Carlene's Place when we saw a full parking lot on a Sunday afternoon. Apparently, there were a lot of locals dining since the staff was greetng them by name. Despite a nearly full dining room, service was polite and fast. There was a buffet that looked good, but I wanted a sandwich. My bacon cheeseburger was one of the best I have ever had. My girlfriend had a cheeseburger and said it was very delicious. There was a nice relaxed homey atmosphere. I highly recommend Carlene's Place and will be back soon.

Hearty, fresh and delicious food after a day out fishing. Great service too. I came all the way from Europe to eat at Carlene’s!

The food was pretty good. The only problem I saw, was that the 2 waitresses seemed to not want to be there or hate their jobs. Maybe they just were having a bad day, it happens.
