Located in the heart of the zamudio parque tecnológico, a bit tricky to find. Plenty of parking spaces and lovely surroundings. The food is a bit pricy, but is not too expensive if you choose one of their menus. The a la carte, as the menus, is just amazing. Fresh ingredients, wonderful taste and presentation.
The three course set menu is great value for money at 25 euros. The choice of shared tapas to start is big, including classics such as Iberico ham and pan con tomate, as well as less obvious choices such as tempura vegetables. The highlight for me was the arroz negro a divine intermediate rice dish with octopus and other seafood. The main of cod two ways was tasty but perhaps a bit not as inventive or refined as the other dishes would have suggested. The dessert of cheese cake was delicious. The service could have been a bit quicker. Ours ended up being a 2.5h lunch break! Still, would definitely recommend this place.
Gaminiz was one of my most enjoyable meals in the Basque country and I 'm just over 75 and travelled a plenty. Two great waiters, Asier and Jon, were polite, friendly and great professionals. Jon speaks English I speak both English and Spanish so had no problem with communicating with both super friendly waiters. The food was delicious; unforgettable. A suprise in every way. We were two friends and it was suggested that we try Nuestro Menu Our in house Menu at 25 Euros each. We had a choice of nine dishes for the first course and six for second course and dessert. We were asked to choose two first courses to share between us and one first course individually. After that the second course and dessert was an individual choice. The shared first course was calamares and tempura : wonderful. Our second individual first course was Kebab vegetables and Lentils , which we both decided were overwhelming in taste and presentation. The second course, chosen indivually, was i brazed lamb and the other ii brazed squid. Again another overwhelming experience. But who were the cooks? Well done, whoever: a truly brilliant experience. And we enjoyed the wine: Luis Briñas crianza 2011 at 16 Euros. And I forgot the dessert! My friend had ice cream gin and tonic and I had torrija a la naranja bread soaked in milk and fried in batter with honey and orange . We decided that this was one of the best meals we had had in a very long time, the more so as the appearance of the interior was so small with a cover but no tablecloth albeit a a fine cotton napkin and only 10 tables x4 , although upstairs Gaminiz apparently caters for weddings, etc., for up to 200. The Basque country is well know for good food and restaurants. I would class this as superb in regard to price, quality and service. One can also choose to have a daily menu, price 16 Euros or a la carte .
