Ivy - York

Excellent experience at the Ivy. The food was so good that we returned the next day. The service was A1. A big thank you to Emma our server as she was so attentive. Thank you for adding to our experience in York.

Very disappointing food. Dry sandwiches, strange chocolate flavours and combinations which were inedible. Very, very busy so service was poor. Not offered extra tea or coffee after one cup or teapot. Food brought to table and then left no further interaction. Our table was right next to staff station and seemed squeezed in. Staff disinterested and music too loud. Inane final conversation when paying bill and 12.5% service charge. It was awful.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch with friends. We chose from the 1017 menu which was great value for money. I had the salmon and asparagus racklet followed by the legendary shepherds pie. All beautifully presented with attention to detail. The staff were efficient and friendly as always. Everything was superb. Well gone the Ivy for getting it right.

We went with a view to have a main meal, but ended up having afternoon tea. The service, food and decor was perfect. All the staff were so polite, helpful and so friendly. Definitely going back for a proper meal next time.

Lunch with my sister for a very small hen party before my ceremony. The waitress asked if we were there for a special occasion and brought 2 free champagne flutes when I told her. The food was exceptional and our waitress Niamh was very informed about the menu and we had a lovely chat with her about her future plans. An asset to the restaurant so keep her if you can. Best scallops I've ever had followed by my fave shepherd's pie. A lovely touch was a free pudding. All in all a lovely experience and we will be back. Decor fab as usual and is up there with the London venues. We'll done the ivy
