Tái Wān Tǔ Sī Gōng Fāng Toast Box

Craving for Singaporean food so thats why we are here. Toast box has few branches in Taipei. The one we go is located at Xinyi shopping area, just across the Vie Show Cinema. We order the Traditional Kaya toast set NTD135 (serve with kaya toast, boiled or half boiled egg and one drink with choices of barley, lemon barley, Teh, Teh C, Teh O, Kopi, Kopi C, Kopi O, Green Tea, Lemon Tea and Yuan yang . The hot barley is too sweet. The half boiled egg is not self service, i prefer to do it by myself like in Singapore. Overall the toast box in Singapore taste better :

Has quite a selection to choose from, the place is well located. Ordering process is simple enough and service speed is decent. Food taste is a bit average, nothing to write home about, taste is slightly bland compared to what Singapore offers, possibly to more suite the Taiwan Market. It's OK for the price, and if you have a kaya toast craving, its worth a try.

I didnt expect Toast Box in Taipei to be anywhere close to original in Singapore. But I thought the kaya toast shouldnt be that bad. I was wrong. For once, I actually had to force myself to finish a kaya toast. And if u look at the pic below, you can see the distribution of the butter slice. The only reason why i gave 2 stars is for the Kopi-c kosong which was passable. Not good, passable. Singaporeans should avoid this place.

I haven't been back to Toast Box Xinyi for about 2 years. What happened to this place? As a Singaporean local food, they don't even sell traditional Laksa with chicken and prawns! Now they sell soft shell crab Laksa.... I ordered char kway teow and milk teh. As you can see in the photo, char kway teow looked like mixture of leftover. It was pretty salty and very oily with lots of garlic paste that were not stir through. Milk teh was under expectation, bit flavorless..... Sunday lunch cost me NT$280. Toast Box Taiwan, you really need to make some big adjustment. On the good note, the service was alright.

Not many people eating on Sunday night and in xinyi district. Food turns out to be very ordinary and a little below expectation. Will not go back unless they make some serious adjustment on how the food are made. Noodle doesn’t have much taste. Soup is ok. Soft shell crab is a bit too salty. Kha ya toast is not very well prepared. Too much kha ya paste and bread is too thick. Nothing like the ones you find in Singapore.
