South Beach Grill - Wrightsville Beach

Fantastic food both presentation and flavor, service was wonderful

Another FIVE STAR dining experience at South Beach Grill, Wrightsville Beach, NC. Photos of Grouper Linda (main course) with Caesar Salad. Awesome! Indoor or covered outdoor dining. Outdoor recommended unless the weather is unfavorable. Parking lot and street parking options.

The food is as spectacular as the atmosphere and view. This restaurant gets all 5 stars and is one of my favorites. The chef is one of the most talented in the area. I have eaten here many times and every meal has been fantastic. Sourcing food locally can be difficult enough but then to turn it into a master piece is on a whole new level. For lunch my favorite go to are the tacos. The pineapple salsa is delicious. The catch of the day fish blackened is always cooked perfectly. The fried Shrimp and french fries are really great and you can tell the shrimp is fresh. For dinner a popular dish is the Grouper Linda. There are chalk board specials that change depending on what is fresh. If you want Fresh and locally sourced seafood this is your place. Hopefully you know that just because seafood restaurants are located at the beach does not mean they serve fresh fish. This is a must try if you are visiting or live in the area.

We had a reserved arrival time, but still had a 30-minute wait for a table. The place was loud and crowded, inside and outside. Very cramped. The best part of the meal was the appetizers. I would recommend the seafood nachos. My daughter's ordered the catch of the day and raved. I ordered a scallop dish. There were only 5 scallops, and the accompanying vegetable mix all seemed prepared and warmed over. It was not delicious.

I usually visit SBG for seafood nachos when I am in town to visit family. This time I wanted to try something else. First, Gladys was an amazing server and very courteous of some food allergies at our party (like the kitchen)! My mother and I decided to share the Sweet Potato Flounder and were absolutely in love with the taste. The rice and the green beans were also delicious. We also have an order of okra fries (sans chili oil and garlic) to share for the table. It was all so good that my mother and I would take out the exact same dish in the following night for (imagined). Usually, when I'm in town, I don't visit twice a restaurant because of limited time to enjoy all my local favorites. SBG was so amazing, delicious and fresh that I could not help but order again! And I can't wait for my next visit, so that I can get back to them.
