Bidrage med feedbackWe were staying at the mathematics institute at Oberwolfach and hiked one afternoon from there to this charming restaurant located in the heart of the village of Wolfach. As traveling foodies, we were looking for true local flavors, and found them at this casual place. We dined in their enclosed courtyard accessed through the restaurant lovely little tables with blue and white checked cloths. Our waitress spoke no English but was so friendly and helpful that ordering/paying/using the restrooms/calling a taxi was no problem. Of note, the menu starts with a timeline of the hotel/restaurant 's history from 1767 forward. We shared an order of Schwarzwalder schinken (Black Forest ham a very generous serving of this marvelous local specialty as well as boiled egg, cantaloupe, tomatoes and sliced pickles with good European bread. We also enjoyed the Scharzwalder Zunftspiess (translates as Black Forest Guilded Pike pork medallions grilled on a skewer with bacon, cherries, brown gravy and noodles (spaetzle . Our Riesling was crisp and cool. We found the prices to be very reasonable, especially for the amount of food. A great little local place for true flavors of the Black Forest. Highly recommended.
The food was good, you can taste traditional Badish cuisine BUT the service is very bad. The lady (probably the owner) worked there very rude and speaks no English. No effort to make us regrettable. We're not going there a second time, even if we liked the food.
Dined outside in the tiny biergarten the indoor restaurant looked very nice, but who can resist eating outside on a 70 degree evening. Cheerful service, exceptional food. Appetizer of fried camembert cheeses with a red currant sauce was wonderful. Another appetizer smoked salmon and...smoked trout with fresh grated horseradish was also delicious. The entrees pork steaks mine with creamy mushroom sauce and cheesy spaetzle, her with cherry sauce were also very good. A very fine dinner.
We had a good meal in the very pretty dining room. The service was prompt which was important as we had amur young grandson with us. They were so nice to him catered for his wishes, he was happy so we were too!!!
Excellent German food in an authentic setting. Wonderful venison and beautiful white wine from Baden.
