The Grange Chocolate Cafe - Wokingham

I had not visited this restaurant in a while. Despite the sign stating to wait to be seated, we were instructed to sit anywhere and that someone would take our order. However, we couldn't find a place to sit until a staff member noticed and directed us around the corner. We waited for about ten minutes without anyone coming to take our order. Meanwhile, a table across from us was seated and served before us by the same server who had seated us. Feeling overlooked, we decided to leave and do not plan on returning.

The food at this restaurant is amazing, but they could improve on cleanliness as I always feel the need to wipe down my table. The service is a bit slow, likely because the staff appears young and inexperienced. However, I am confident they will improve with time. Overall, it is a lovely place to visit and we always enjoy our meals, especially the delicious cake.

Awful food. Staff all standing around chatting and not serving (except the young lady with ginger hair who did all the work. Others just wandered aimlessly around. When we asked one of them if we could order food, it was as if we’d asked about nuclear physics. Clueless. Not surprised the ratings are so low.

We went to the restaurant today for lunch. We have visited several times in the past for breakfast and have always been very pleased with our experience. However, today was terrible. The restaurant was quite busy, but there were available tables so we sat down and waited. The young waitresses seemed more interested in chatting with each other than serving the customers. The tables around us were also waiting, and even though we thought we would be next after one table was served, we were ignored. After 20 minutes of waiting, we decided to leave. As we passed by the cash register on our way out, none of the three girls working there acknowledged us or asked if there was a problem. We ended up going to a local pub and had a wonderful meal there. We will not be returning to this restaurant. It's a shame because it used to be a nice place to visit in the past.

For a cafe in a small craft village, I was very surprised at the huge choice of brunch, lunch, and snacks. The choice of drinks and hot chocolate was vast. My daughter and I had coffee, I had cake which was a very large piece and lovely, and my daughter had pancakes. Lots of fruit and a very adequate portion. Good value for money. The only downside was the wait for service. Signs said to take a seat for table service but we had to go to the counter to ask for someone to come after waiting some time. All in all a pleasant experience especially for a cafe, not a restaurant and I would go back.
