Bidrage med feedbackI am disappointed to say that the food at this restaurant was quite mediocre. My wife ordered the garlic bread and pizza, both of which were just average. My own dish was completely bland and lacked any flavor. I also observed that when we visited in February for Sunday lunch, the restaurant was full, but today there were only two tables occupied, including ours.
The menu was disappointing with limited options, but the garden room was a delightful setting.
The staff and service at this restaurant were excellent. However, the food was disappointing, especially on Sunday evening when it was awful. I stayed for two nights and found that both breakfasts were very good. It seems that the kitchen is struggling to maintain quality due to being stretched.
We had a lovely meal, the initial service was very slow as there was a wedding and the guests came into the main bar for drinks before being redirected by staff. Waited 20 mins to order drinks and food at the bar. Fine thereafter and the food and staff were excellent
Went to the Talbot with 2 friends for lunch on a Thursday. I used to work in Ripley until 2012 and the Talbot was always an excellent place for business lunches with a good menu. This visit, not so good. The Doom Bar bitter was poor tainted (end of barrel), new barrel was not much better. We had a Guinness and a couple of lagers. Lunch was a limited menu, so went for the Talbot burger. Delayed because ovens weren’t working so they had to fry them. Burgers arrived in cold brioche buns with fridge cold tomato relish. Burger was dry, tough and rather overcooked. Chips were good though. Ketchup and mayo served in old Chivers mini jam jars. Mine had obviously already been used by previous guests. Waited ages to get served a second drink. Had it in the garden with the sound of air extractors humming loudly in the garden. Come on Talbot, these are basics things to have sorted for a guest experience. Disappointed. Won’t return.
