Bidrage med feedbackNot sure we had a pleasant experience at Kayal Byfleet this week after making an hour’s drive each way to get from where we live! We previously visited Leamington Spa restaurant which didn’t disappoint us, hence dined without looking at any reviews. To start with, it took 15 20mins and couple of chases to get someone to take our drinks order. Food also took its own sweet time to arrive on a week day where only 20% of the tables were occupied. Food Kerala cuisine??? You have really re defined “keralan” food :D absolutely poor taste and not at all authentic. Check out the picture how Kerala porotta looks like, what was served to me is called pappadam where I come from ;o Will I visit again? Absolutely not, nor recommend to anyone.
The food is very delicious and the price is reasonable. The grilled fish as a starter is my favorite although it’s a bit spicy. The king prawn starter is also very nice. We ordered a main- chicken stew in coconut sauce, this is probably not the best main for strong taste people as it is quite mild. Compared with amazing starter the main is so so. In terms of the price this meal is definitely worth the value. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall, considering everything 5 out of 5 dining experience in this restaurant.
Kayal has good ambience which gives you vibes of a typical kerala restaurant(in uk). Has wide variety of food in its menu and nothing felt over priced. Say around 10 pounds per person excluding drinks. And coming to drinks they do serve Indian beers like Kingfisher. Service was great and the staffs where friendly... We ordered a sea food platter which wasn't the best I ve tried... We also ordered beef roast which was okay... Will visit again during lunch time as i am told that their lunch menu is better... Has limited parking on site, so might struggle a bit during peak hours... Even though food wasn't exceptional, the overall experience was satisfactory. Will definitely try again and update...
This is a great place for lunch with a really good business lunch offer which is tremendous value. You get a selection of small dishes which are really tasty. Staff look after you well. It was nice and cool when we visited on a hot day.
Review done: My family and I am a huge fan of Kerala dishes. I’ve been to several Kerala restaurants in London but they don’t come anywhere near the quality and the taste served in Kayak restaurant. As starters we had the Mixed seafood platter and Kayal Konju Chilly. It’s certainly fair to say the starters made us hungrier and more excited to get the mains. As mains, we had the full thilapi, porotta, chicken curry and ghee rice. They were delicious as expected. After polishing off the plates, we moved to the deserts pineapple Kesari and semiya payasam. Knowing that we are in Kayal restaurant, one of our friends asked us to take away some dishes for them as they have been here a few times. The staff were very friendly, polite and very knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu. The restaurant is big and airy. We will be back!
