Samurai Japanese Restaurant - Winnipeg

My friend and I stopped off for a girls night out. I have been here in the past and they are always courteous and friendly. Had the veggie roll and the peking. Both were flavorful. They have so many different types of sushi to try. You literally want all of them. A bit pricey but would go back.

Now this is seriously yummy. Had a work lunch and ordered the lunch special - Samurai sushi combo. I am not up on my sushi terminology so I can't say exactly what was in the bento box but there were about 15 pieces of sushi. The combo also came with a small yummy salad and miso soup. All of this for $14.95 This was so much food that we all couldn't finish our meal. Everything was so fresh and so tasty and just melted in your mouth. Not only that but the presentation was so pretty that I wish I had taken a picture! Nice and funky and clean restaurant. The staff were super friendly. I would definitely return!

Visited for dinner on a Friday night around 7:15 pm. Restuarant had only a party of 4 and myself.This might be due to the downtown location and lack of event at the MSC centre next door. The only real complaint I have is the name. This is a sushi restaurant; not a Japanese restaurant. The menu is almost exclusively sushi and sashimi. Though there are some authentic snacks available. Once past that, the sushi was fresh, expertly cut and served on just the right amount of rice. It was't the best sushi i've ever had, but was on the better side of average, rating a solid good. Overall value was average, but I don't know what prices are like downtown. All in all, for my $20, I felt like I got a good sushi dinner, with delicious salad and average miso soup.

I was literally the only person in the restaurant and the atmosphere was very bad. The music wasn't on until about 10 minutes after I arrived and they'd been open a few hours already. The wasabi in the sushi rolls was just a bit too much and the fish was very bland and didn't taste fresh at all. I was disappointed with my experience.

I like trying local restaurants when i travel and i was not expecting a sushi restaurant in Winnipeg to be this good.I had a great bento of assorted rolls as well as Sweet Shrimp which i have never had before. it was very well prepared and flavorful. some of the best sushi i have ever had.Service was fast and helpful.
