Bidrage med feedbackMyself 3 friends had a lovely lunch at the Bexley yesterday. The service food were excellent. We sat outside as the weather was good. The barman came took our drinks orders then our food order. Extensive menus with something for everyone. Will definitely be back soon. Can highly recommend.
We visited the Bexley Arms whilst on a boating holiday on the river Thames , Having visited windsor previously we had been disappointed with the offering on the main street , so looked on tripadvisor and found this locals not too far from the river , but away from the tourist areas. WOW what a find , as mentioned in a previous review it is like stepping back in time , it 's like pubs were when i was a kid 40 years ago . We entered through the main bar which had a good group of locals in it, along with a friendly gentleman who was sat on a stool at the end of the bar, who directed us into the room around the bar . the affore said gentleman turned out to be the landlord when was the last time you saw a landlord drinking with the locals?? We were seated by a lovely polish lady Miriam? who said as we were the only people eating they had set up a table in the back bar like somebodys front room!! rather than the main dining room , which she did show us later and was very impressive. We all opted for the rump steak which was excellent. my wife is not normally a fan but declared it as being better than fillet praise indeed . we could only manage one dessert between us a huge treacle sponge with custard which was also excellent. As we were finishing our meals Annie , the chef/ landlady came around and sat at the bar , commanding the pub the only way an old school publican , Can . I had to squeeze in another pint of the well kept courage bitter which despite being served 'southern style ' We northerners like a Proper Head !!. was the best pint of beer i had tasted all week. Whilst getting served we struck up conversation with Annie who told us they had been running the pub for 35 years . I doubt very much except the prices have changed in that time . and why should it. This is a proper locals pub , which has a warm welcome for visitors , whilst selling excellent food and drink. The Bexley and its landlord /lady really are a hidden gem in Windsor
Wow. Been a while since we have been at the Bexley Arms, lockdown etc to blame. So we and friends booked in for Sunday lunch. We were not expecting it to be too busy, how wrong could you be. We were told that we got the last table booking. So we turned up and found the bar buzzing, busy with post Sunday-lunch’ers and drinkers. There was a real atmosphere again. Before we took our seats we saw a couple of groups turned away as there was simply no space left. We were told later that this has been the case for the previous couple of weeks. So we were called through a took our seats. We went old school, starter mains and a cheeky pudding! Oh and a great bottle of Malbec for under £20. We all started with the same thing, yep that 70’S fav Prawn Cocktail – its seems it’s a firm fav at the Bexley. It was a belter, no need to say anymore! Then two of us went with the Roast Sirloin and one with the poached salmon. The beef was proper, none of this pre-sliced stuff that is heated up by the gravy! Thick slices and that weekend it must have come from a cow the size of a house, they were large slices! All the veg and roasties you can hope to eat. Oh and the cauliflower and cheese for the table! The gravy is proper, you can taste the beef all through it and there is loads of it. If you can believe it we did all go for pudding. All the family fav’s are there as well as an incredible selection of splits and sundaes. Small portions …. not on your life, we had bitten off more that we could chew, so to speak! Afterwards we headed back to the bar, still busy and very jolly. The Bexley shuts early on a Sunday, which is good, gives you just enough time for a great Sunday lunch and a end of weekend drink in the company of friends. A great decision to go for Sunday lunch!
Always good. Was pleased to be one of the first back in the restaurant. Quirky restaurant but excellent staff and always great food and wines.
Although it was a windy and rainy evening, we walked over through a lovely area of Windsor from our B and B on Alma rd..and enjoyed a great meal at the Bexley Arms..Garlic mushrooms to start off the meal were perfectly cooked , seasoned and served...friendly staff made us feel at home..snug in the corner...of a a beautiful dining room...a large party had just called and cancelled..felt bad for the staff..but they didn't let it bother their attitude..had the Shepherd's Pie and it was delicious..good pint to go along..enjoyed the Ladies Loo, it has the Godfather toilet...we took pics in there..and the staff thought of course weird Americans..totally great evening.
