The Magnolia Place - Winder

Visited on Friday evening while camping at the state park. Good reviews, looked like a nice place. Arrived at 7:30. Two other tables eating. While waiting to be seated, a woman at one table called to us and said the food was delicious. So we thought it would be good. Wrong. Greasy fried catfish, tough fried chicken strips, and what I believe was a thin country fried steak (breaded burger patty) floating on brown gravy were the meat selections. Mashed potatoes, white gravy, Mac and cheese, fried okra, green beans, corn, and limas made up the veggie side. Mac was flavorless. Fish was greasy. Chicken was tough. Vegetables had other foods floating in the water. The “steak” wasn’t too bad. Okra and potatoes were ok. Peach cobbler and banana pudding pans were nearly empty. We didn’t attempt to scrape enough to fill a bowl. The iced tea was good. $35.90 for two (including tax), and we left hungry. Advice: ask to see the buffet before agreeing to be seated. Then decide if you want to stay. Maybe we were there at a bad time, but we certainly won’t be going back. The people are really nice but the food to me wasn't that good....But it would be great if you were watching salt intake had no one to cook and need food and veggies in your life

We were excited to try this spot as the location and building looked great. We extremely disappointed that the food was just plain gross. Absolutely no flavor and poor selection we had to empty the salt shaker to bring some flavor into the food. Won’t be back.
