Sails - Hamilton Island Resort

We had the buffet breakfast when staying at a different location on the Island. We wanted and expected something special but found the buffet breakfast only average at best. The bacon was cold and dry, the omelettes were very disappointing, the orange slices did not taste fresh, but the pineapple slices were fantastic. The self serve machine cappuccino coffee was good. Overall very disappointing and needs improving given the price.

On our second visit to Hamilton Island, my fiancé, family and I decided to have dinner at Sails on our first night. We had arrived here at around 7pm and was given a buzzer to wait for a table to become free. We only waited about 10 minutes, which we were happy about. After we had taken our seats, a staff member swiftly came to us and took our orders (she even advised that she was quite new to the role, but we were fine with that because we did not think it would affect our order in want way). There were 2 big groups of tourists (around 30 per group) that were seated on the inner end of the restaurant and it looked like staff were busy trying to accommodate them all. There were other families and couples dining at Sails as well. We were watching staff tending to those 2 big groups a lot more than the other customers around and we noticed that we had already been waiting for our food for at least 45 minutes. I had also noticed that a family that were seated shortly after us was already finishing their dinner. We had asked the staff member that had served us about our food but she kept saying, 'it shouldn't be too long'. By 8pm, my sister had gotten up and asked a different staff member about our food and their reply was a blunt, 'we're doing the best we can' and walked away. I don't think that is the correct response especially when you're dealing with hungry customers. I was actually livid at this point that she had spoken to my sister like that as my sister approached her politely. We ordered the following: fried chicken & waffles, seafood pasta, mushroom pasta and a beef steak dish. All of which were very, very average and definitely not worth the hour wait. The following night, I was celebrating my last night of being a single woman and the bar staff was not very courteous at all. If I may be honest, I feel they had judged me as a tiny Asian woman and were surprised when I spoke completely good English and paid with my own money. The looks they gave, along with their attitude were very arrogant. Long story short, I will not come back to this restaurant/bar when we visit again.

We ate here for lunch. Our first meal after landing on the island. We had a cocktail each and ordered a salad and 2 burger with chips from the Bar Menu. Around $120 for 2 cocktails, 2 burgers and a chicken Caesar salad. We were happy with all our meals. Beautiful outlook over the pool to the sea. The Mango Splice cocktails are to die for!! Good service. Friendly and polite staff.

Nothing standout or special about the food at all, pretty bland on the whole. Staff were friendly and attentive but considering the place was only a quarter full the long wait for our meals and the fact that they brought out three and then we had to wait for the fourth isn't really good enough. Outlook is very pretty and the close location to Catseye Beach and pool is probably it's only positive at this point in time.

Statt in unser Pool Terrace wollten wir mal woanders frühstücken, Angebot in ähnlich, aber wegen"Debby" war die Terrasse zum draußen sitzen noch nicht wieder fertig, durch die hohe Halle war es sehr laut, Geräusche von überall, also nicht so schön wie im Hotel Restaurant, dann lieber größer und voller aber doch im Verhältnis besserAber man soll ja auch etwas anderes probieren
